Message from the President
Summer is off to a great start with 4,495 students enrolled and enrollment up 12.2% higher than the summer of 2009. While every location has experienced noticeable growth, the majority of students are enrolled at the Springfield campus, which welcomed 2,133 students last week, up 10.5% from last summer.
We continue to grow, simply because people continue to need what we offer.
If you need additional skills, a better job, or even a new career, we can help students reach those goals quickly and affordably.
Enrollment is up by 22.8% at the College's Richwood Valley campus, with 232 students taking classes this summer. Online enrollment has increased by 9.1%, with 1,744 students taking online classes. The Branson Education Center is up 34.7%, with 136 students, and the Lebanon Education Center is up 30.2% with 164 students. The College's Waynesville Education Center is up 57.8%, with 71 students enrolled for the Center's second summer semester.
As the College continues to serve a greater number of students, our Imagine. Invest. Inspire. Major Gifts Capital Campaign becomes even more critical. We remain focused on our four main initiatives to improve the College offerings in the area of: Workforce Development, Health Education, Student Support Programs, and Student Scholarships.
We have made great progress in reaching our goal and have raised just over $8.5 million toward our $10 million goal. You can also see an updated graph for the campaign below.
Thank you for supporting OTC as your generosity is the key to providing the quality education and training that our community has come to expect. With your support, we will continue to be the community's college.

Community Foundation of the Ozarks and OTC
announce $50,000 challenge grant

Ozarks Technical Community College and the Community Foundation of the Ozarks announce a new $50,000 challenge grant initiative beginning June 1, to support OTC's workforce development programs for training and retraining workers across the Ozarks for the new economy.
The Community Foundation of the Ozarks will match $1 for every dollar raised by the OTC Foundation, up to $25,000, by Nov. 30, 2010. The OTC Foundation will use the challenge grant funds for the Center for Workforce Development, Transport Training Institute.
The CFO initiated this new challenge grant as part of the 2010-11 Springfield Metropolitan Grantmaking cycle in response to its emphasis on addressing high-priority community needs - or "red flags" - identified in the 2009 Community Focus Report for Springfield and Greene County. The full Community Focus Report is available at: www.springfieldcommunityfocus.org.
For more information on making fully tax-deductible contributions to the Workforce Development Challenge Grant, contact the OTC Foundation at (417) 447-2651 or foundation@otc.edu. |

OTC to acquire financing for capital improvement projects in Hollister, Lebanon and Springfield
|
Future Lebanon Education Center |
The Board of Trustees of Ozarks Technical Community College has approved a plan to acquire financing for several major capital improvement projects in Hollister, Lebanon and Springfield. The plan, which was approved in the June 14 meeting of the Board, will allow College administration to secure appropriate financing of up to $10 million. "We will be investing considerable resources into our communities in order to expand our offerings and more effectively serve the citizens in those areas," explained Dr. Hal Higdon, president of the College. "While we have a significant need for expansions throughout the College, these projects are a great beginning." In Hollister, Ozarks Technical Community College has already begun the search for an ideal facility or site to become the Hollister Education Center. The College will spend approximately $5 million to complete the development of the center. The College will spend approximately $3 million to fund infill at the new facility for the Lebanon Education Center, which will include putting in classrooms and parking lots. Reuben and Mary Lou Casey of San Clemente, Calif., donated the $2.6-million facility in December of 2009. |
