Message from the President - Governor Nixon visits OTC |
|
Ozarks Technical Community College was the first stop on October 22, for Governor Jay Nixon's listening tour to discuss ways to help higher education better connect with the state's workforce demands.
Nixon, who is visiting all of the state's community colleges, toured OTC's diesel and automotive repair facilities and held a roundtable discussion with college administrators and business leaders about ways the state can connect higher education to its economic needs. Nixon praised OTC for having the ability to be agile in responding to economic conditions with short and streamlined programs in everything from construction readiness to truck driving to pharmacy technician.
This visit and discussion goes hand in hand with our Major Gifts Capital Campaign as Workforce Development is one of our four initiatives. The other three initiatives that were identified by community leaders and so important as our College continues to grow are: Student Scholarships, Center for Health Education, and Student Support Programs.
Once again, thank you to all of our friends who have been so generous in contributing to our campaign.
