Message from the President |
|
Our Imagine. Invest. Inspire. Major Gifts Capital Campaign is continuing to progress with gifts that are making a difference in the lives of our students. As our College is serving nearly 13,000 students this fall, we are finding that many programs within OTC are needing additional space and resources to continue to offer the quality our students expect. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we continue to make great strides in our campaign.
The four initiatives of our campaign were identified by community leaders and are so very important as our College continues to grow: Center for Workforce Development, Student Scholarships, Center for Health Education, and Student Support Programs. |

Howard & Jan Fisk donate use of 15-passenger van |
Ozarks Technical Community College Board of Trustees member J. Howard Fisk (pictured), with his wife Jan, have donated the use of a 15-passenger van for use as the College's parking shuttle during the 2009-10 school year. The van, a 2007 Chevy, will carry students and employees between the Springfield campus and several off-campus overflow parking lots. It would cost the College approximately $2,000 per month to rent the van for the parking shuttle; the use of the van for the duration of the academic year makes the total donation value $22,900. "We are very grateful to Howard and Jan Fisk for their help in meeting the immediate needs of the College," said Dr. Hal Higdon, president of the College. "Having the use of this van will save the College thousands of dollars, and will help us as we work to alleviate the parking difficulties faced by our students, faculty and staff." Ozarks Technical Community College has parking agreements with Silver Springs Park, located just north of campus on Hampton Avenue, as well as three churches near the campus. These locations provide more than 200 additional parking spaces for students and employees. OTC Safety and Security employees drive the parking shuttle, which runs continually throughout each weekday. | |

Lead Gift received from Carol Jones |
The OTC Foundation received a lead gift from Carol Jones. Ms. Jones, Founder of Carol Jones Realtors, and the recipient of the 2009 OTC Excellence in Business award, has given the money in support of the OTC Foundation's Student Scholarship Initiative.
The gift will create a scholarship specifically designated for females recovering from domestic or family violence and/or with financial need.
"Ms. Jones has consistently demonstrated her commitment to taking care of the women in our community, and helping to fund their education is another excellent way to do so," said Cliff Davis, executive director of the OTC Foundation and the College's vice president for Institutional Advancement. "We are grateful to Ms. Jones for her generosity and her support of our students," Dr. Hal Higdon, president of Ozarks Technical Community College, added. "This scholarship will surely have a profound affect on the lives of the women who receive it." This gift positions the OTC Foundation within $610,000 of meeting the $2.5 million goal of its Student Scholarship Initiative, a part of its ongoing Imagine. Invest. Inspire. Major Gifts Capital Campaign. Other initiatives in the Campaign include: Center for Workforce Development, $3 million; Center for Health Education, $2 million; and Student Support Programs, $2 million.
