CMS ICOE Edits for 2nd Quarter |
There were a few changes to the CMS edits for April 1, 2010.
One change affects CMS edits #3(diagnosis/sex) and #8(procedure/sex). Now, claims with the presence of condition code #45, ambiguous gender, will not be applied against either edit and will not be returned to the provider. CMS also released new modifier effective 04/01/2010:

ChargeMaster
What's New |
One of our strengths is to listen to our customer's needs. We are pleased to announce many new features to our existing ChargeMaster product, based on the feedback our customer's have provided.
Please see our enhancements outlined below.
- Added ability to print and download Summary and some Managerial reports
Created a report of all approved items that can be uploaded.
- We now accept usage information. In other words, the system can perform an analysis of all items used by a department to determine which are being used the most of which ones are used the most with issues.
- Added OPPS rate impact column that populates when usage information is loaded.
- If you rather work with all items in one report rather than by department, we now have that capability. You will be able to see all items with issues and alerts in one single report.
- Added new management report area (Managerial Reports) containing reports accessible by administrative level user.
- Added new reports under Managerial for Modified Items List and Unmodified Items With Outstanding Issues with ability to run Crystal reports or download to a spreadsheet.
- Added new report area for Utility Items containing Search CDM Items, Search Mediregs Site and Complete CDM Listing.
- Added report with edit form for Procedure Codes with Different Descriptions, meaning the system will point out the items containing the same number but with different descriptions in various departments.
- If you have a subscription to MediRegs, when you are researching the item in question, you can easily get to MediRegs by using the link provided in each Edit item screen.
- We have added a drop down box in the CPT/HCPCS and Revenue Code fields in the edit form to allow lookup from partial code; the system displays all codes that begin with criteria entered and ability to select code from drop-down or link to MediRegs
- Added CPT/HCPCS AMA full description
- Added display of CMS SIC (Status Indicator Code) for each CPT/HCPCS
- Added more sort and filter functions to report displays
- Added ability to change description on edit form
- Changed file upload page to accept independent files; CDM only, dept listing, usage, etc
- All Summary or Priority Issue reports now display detail report on same page
- Added support page with "LivePerson"
- Information such as descriptions, SIC, OPPS rate, etc, will change on edit form when CPT/HCPCS code is changed to reflect information relative to new code
- Provided link on Model Overlay pages to allow existing items to be changed via edit form
- Added ability to change items without issues from Complete CDM Listing and approval pages via edit form
- Added "Reset Values" button to edit form to allow user to return original information if necessary

- Added F1 "Help" button in most fields on GUI. This feature provides the user with a look-up on fields containing data such as condition codes, value codes, patient status and other data elements.
- Individual edits on a claim now have a check box to indicate if the issue has been reviewed and once the box is checked, the edit displays in gray as opposed to black on the Claim Report. This allows the user to determine which claims/edits have been reviewed and corrected.
- Added a new claim disposition "Bypass Edits and Force Claim to Transmit". This allows the claim to bypass any subsequent scrubbing, be reported as "Passed" and forwarded on to be transmitted.
- Improved the display of the "Batch Statistics" page by showing information on failed claims only. This report no longer provides information on passed claims and is easier to understand than the previous display.
- Added RAC module. This module will flag claims that have a potential RAC issue based on current issues published by all four RACS. This module only issues an alert so the client can review claims before submission or watch for trends in claim activity.
- Eliminated the RTP module and created two new modules; Managed Care and Invalid Data Elements. Managed Care contains edit logic from the CMS module for all CMS edits that are applicable to non-Medicare claims. Invalid Data Elements has edit logic that will flag claims that have errors that would prevent a claim from being accepted by a payer and returned to the provider as unprocessed.
- Added filter options to the File History page to allow the user to "customize" the report. This feature provides options to filter on criteria such as batch dates, rescrub dates, batch name and batch status and allows the user to view only the batches selected.
- Added paging options to the File History page that allows the user to select how many batches per page to view and also gives the user the ability to select the page to be viewed.
- Added filter options to the Claim Report page that provides the option of viewing claims by edit or reviewed status.
Added sort ability to Claim Report that allows sorting based on claim order, patient number, patient name, claim amount or primary payer.
