IN A STATE OF BATTLE

We are several weeks away from the presidential election, and here in Colorado they call us a battle ground state for our votes. That's true, but it seems to me the real battle for people is not choosing who they're going to vote for. but instead what they think about our leaders of the country from both parties. It's in having a positive mind set rather than a dire outlook or disappointing viewpoint on where this country is heading. So like everyone else I am thinking about the election, the next four years and what the outcome will have on families and ministries such as Be the Gift with the potential change in laws and peoples attitude.

BTG may not be a battle ground state but we seem to always be in a state of battling. We battle in prayer to stay in the direction we feel God has called BTG. We battle with our own insecurities and fears as leaders and representatives of the Lord. We battle not to quit and turn back because the road may seem difficult at times. As the battle list goes on, it occurred to me that all battles have one thing in common. How we think is how we battle and how we see God determines how we think.

In Psalm 78:41 it says - "They turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel". In this scripture the people actually limited God. They were battling something, turned back and just couldn't believe God and actually limited the Creator of the universe. Limited Him by how they thought and believed. We see how this can either open the door of God to move or it closes the door. Verses 43-55 goes on to tell us the account of when Israel was in Egypt and God delivered them out of the hands of Pharaoh. The writer of Psalm 78 Asaph is saying one of the keys of not turning back or limiting God is by remembering how great God is. How He always takes the place we are in and will turn it into something to be celebrated.

So take the limits off your life by feeding your thoughts with God's Word, with prayer, with worship and remember He didn't take you out this far to just leave you where you are.

SERVE LOVELAND.... Faith in Action Day August 19th

Churches in this area gathered on a sunny day in August, and spent their Sunday morning helping in the community.  They worked in schools, parks and buildings around town.  The Faith

in Action volunteers teamed up with Be the Gift and helped in two Single Mom Homes. There were 30 or more young and old that jumped in and contributed to the lives of a Single Mom and her children who so often juggle several jobs, homework, sports and never really have time for their home.

One volunteer in particular shared a story of how she has been in church for more than 30 years, and had never felt and understood what it means to be a Christian until this day     when she helped with this home repair project.

We hear it all the time.... step out and do something for someone else. We love the saying "Give with the life you have been given".  Have a great fall season and stay well.
