| LOOP HOLES OR ACTION? |
|
In Luke 10: 25 - 37, Jesus has an exchange with an expert of the law. He asked, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus answered by asking "What is written in the Law?" The man said, "Love the Lord with all your heart and with all of your soul and all of your mind and Love your neighbor as yourself." Jesus replied, "Do this and you will live" Now it gets interesting because the expert of the law wants to justify himself and so asks "who really is my neighbor?" If he needs to justify himself --it must mean he really knows that he's not loving his neighbor; so he looks for a loop hole in God's Word. As I am writing this, I myself often wonder
How many times I looked for loop holes to justify my actions or lack of action in my life.
It seems like the whole world looks for loop holes and the church is no different. Over and over it speaks about loving your neighbor as yourself, even so much as to say it's part of the way to inherit eternal life as we read in Luke 10. I wonder how many Christians went to church last week and raised their hands in worship to God, but haven't raised a hand to help a neighbor. Each week we try to memorize as much Scripture as we can, but we have no idea of the names of our neighbors. We would not dare miss a Sunday morning service, but we can't spare a half day once a month to invest into the life of one of our neighbors or member of our community. And if you are like me, you had some great answers to justify your actions or lack of. If this scripture in Luke stirred you like it did me, your life is about to be turned upside down as a Christian.
If you want the scriptures and the promises of God's Word to come alive and explode in your life,
then take the love that Jesus poured into your life and
love a neighbor - it will rock your world!!!
