| GIVE WITH THE LIFE YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN |
| Let's start in the Gospel of John 14:12
"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."
Now if you are like me, you jump all over that scripture. You think of the greatest miracles that Jesus did such as walking on water, healing the sick and even raising people from the dead. Then we strive to these greater things...I have prayed for thousands of people, I have prayed for dead people on missions trips (it's a long story, give me a call), I have even tired to walk on water (not much faith, I wore a bathing suit). Now I don't know the percentage of what I call success for the people I have prayed for. I do know the dead people are in Heaven and I got all wet on my water walking attempt. But what I have learned after all these years is that I have missed the point.
The very essence and purpose of Jesus was to express
His love, not so much to demonstrate His power.
From day one we have misunderstood the point. His early followers wanted Him to kill all Romans and set up His kingdom now, to show them who is really powerful. But Jesus broke into history to Love, Sacrifice and give His Life for all of us so we could be reconciled with the Father. The power and miracles are a by-product of His Love.
How do we start to do greater things as in John 14?
First and foremost-- Give with the life Following in the steps of Jesus with love and sacrifice was never meant for just a Sunday morning church event. You see every day, we have all that we need to be successful with the people who are currently around us to do even greater things than Jesus would do for them. WOW, read that again! So here's the key...make room in life to love the people around you by allowing time to help, time to notice people and their needs, then as you position your life to be used by God, greater things will each of us do in the life that we have been given. Love all of you,
Chris and Marilyn
