Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles and refuse to let the world corrupt us.

What a Point in Time to Launch Be the Gift

It's the fall of 2008 and the citizens of our incredible country have made some new decisions in who will lead us into the future.  The financial markets are rocky and the economy has slowed down a bit.  In the natural and traditional way of thinking this would not be the most opportune time to begin a new venture.  But when the Lord
directs his people to be about His business, he does not look at the state of the markets, who is running the country, state or our city, the price of fuel or even how our 401(k) is doing (yikes).

Our Lord is looking for people who will look towards heaven without focusing on the circumstances of life around them, even with all of the distractions, the shaking of intuitions and the volatility of our times.

We are a people full of faith that will say
Yes and send me Lord, I'll go!

Yes, Be the Gift was started by Marilyn and me, yet we see it as a ministry of people bursting with confidence and the belief of reaching out to people who are in need.  You may call us the founders or the leaders, but the energy and fire of this ministry comes from those with a love for the Lord and a determination to put His Word into action and allow it to come alive in the world around them.

Even though Be the Gift is a new name, we have been in the ministry for over 20 years and the Lord has taken us to many places around the world.  One thing is for sure, there are more needs now than ever.  Our desire is to generate two things:
1. The opportunity to re-establish faith, hope and trust in people in how they see our Lord
and how they see the church(us).
2. To acknowledge gifts, talents and compassion in people to serve the Lord and to give
them an opportunity to venture out by helping someone; essentially to Be the Gift!

So why start Be the Gift now?  Because the Lord summoned and people like you said yes. You are invited and encouraged to join us.

I promise there is a place for you here at
Be The Gift to help change a life.

Remember this, blessings always come in the "going and the giving of ourselves".

Projects and Plans

We enjoyed our work in Windsor, Colorado after the tornado destroyed several neighborhoods.  BTG helped in clearing debris, cleaning homes, helping people move out of their homes and just listening to the people as they told their story of the day when their life changed forever.

Be The Gift also helped in the small southern rural Colorado town of Ordway.  Last spring there was a wild fire that swept through their town and completely burned down approximately 30 homes.  We were honored to help a couple of single moms with rebuilding their home.  Our first single mother has young child and lost her home as the fire came upon her home so fast that nothing was saved.  We had the chance to replace much of the floor in her new home, plus build and install most of her new bathroom.  The expression on her face and the tears in her eyes told us she was moved by how God provided for her and her boy.

The other single mom lost her husband to cancer two years ago and this year they lost the home they built together.  As we replaced four windows and two doors in their new home, their smiles and the time we spent together with her family was overwhelming.  I know we went down to Ordway to bless others, but each of the seven of us who went to serve came away from that weekend flooded with the sense that we were truly doing the work of the Lord.  There is not a better feeling in the world than being about the Lord's business.

The finally story for this newsletter is about a single mom with two small girls.  A BTG team went to her home and fixed her roof around the chimney so it would not leak this winter and damage her home.  While on the roof they cleared her gutters and winterized her yard.  She is recently divorced and was not sure how or what to do. Thanks to caring people like you, her home is ready for the winter season.

The November newsletter focus and our current project is for a single mom that has 8 windows in her home that are so old and broken that they leak air and moisture.  She and her family endured all of last winter with the windows damaged. Here at BTG we want to change this winter for her and install new windows
.

If you are feeling moved to help Kathy and her family,
please contact us here at BTG.

There are several ways you can participate whether it is to help install these windows or purchase a window for her.  Maybe your family or church can subsidize one or more of her windows.  We do know that as we develop our relationship with her and serve her family, God will be honored and we will be changed.

We truly believe that service changes the server.
