Ever wonder how you find yourself in a trap and question how you ever got there? Marilyn and I have great friends who one day asked about a trailer that was donated to Be the Gift. So where is it and why isn't being used, this fantastic blessing and gift from God is nowhere to be seen. Well our intent was to have it painted and fixed up nicely. So as you might expect, I had quit a few reasons why it isn't being used with truly legitimate, logical and sensible motives; such as appearance, safety, timing, being too busy, and the list goes on. The bottom line is simply that this gift from God is sitting safe and sound in storage.
As I was thinking about the trailer I began to ponder on God's Word in Matthew 25:14-30 about the Parable of the Talents. How the man that was given one talent (or shall we say trailer), was nervous so he went and hid it. Then when it was time to be accountable for his talent this man came up with his excuse. He said, "I was afraid and went away to hide your talent in the ground; see, you have what is yours" The master answered, "you wicked, lazy man..." The parable goes on to say that the Master took his talent from him because he was full of excuses and would not use it. He then gave it to others who would actually put their talents into action and make use of them for the Master.
I can't help but feel like that man, that I fell into a trap and was hiding our gift. Here is the good news, it's not too late for us to put that trailer (our talents)into action for the purpose of what God has intended for it. So here is the question for each of us;
Have you buried your talents God has given
you and are you making excuses
why you have buried them?
Take a moment and think, because until someone brought it to my attention;
My excuses made more sense than my use.
You see God has given each of us gifts to be used NOW for the Kingdom and unfortunately we too often bury them and lock them up with excuses. We bury our talents in our work place, in our own backyard or with our own pursuits. Then we excuse them by saying when I have more time, then I'll help. We bury our tithe and donation money in a bank, hobby or save it for a rainy day. Then we excuse it by saying when I have enough then I'll give. My dad always said you never see a hearse pulling a U-haul trailer.
Here is the reality -- If we do not use, excuse away, worry, or find ourselves just being lazy with our talents, gifts and resources, then God will give His intended increase for our lives to someone who will use them. We need to release them in our lives now. As for us, we will dig out and use the trailer that was given to us.
So let's stir up any area of our lives that we may have buried and watch the increase come as we engage in God's purpose.
Love you all and drop us a line- we enjoy hearing from you. God Bless! Chris and Marilyn
