dining room curtain
Recently restored 100-year-old French silk curtains now hanging in the Dining Room.

Thanks to grants from the Duff McDuff Green, Jr. Fund of the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region and the Margaret Walker Purinton Foundation, the first phase of Belmont's dining room restoration is complete. This included restoration of the mahogany dining table, repair and relining of the silk and wool curtains, and repair of the Mahal Persian carpet.  Read on...

The remaining work involves repair and stabilization of four Continental dining chairs, repair of original seat covers and replacement of four seat covers with French silk brocade fabric to approximate original fabric. The cost of this second and final phase is expected to total $20,000 for which funding is being sought.
