Operation Smile Vietnam 20 Years of Smiles

To commemorate 20 years of providing new smiles, in November 4-14 2009 Operation Smile and Operation Smile Vietnam will launch 20 years of Smiles-A Journey of Miracles.  To highlight the diversity of care provided throughout Vietnam, 16 simultaneous medical programs will be conducted, providing cleft lip and palate surgeries, dental treatment, and reconstructive surgeries for burns and cranialfacial anomalies.  Held at sites located throughout Vietnam, these programs will provide free treatment for an estimated 3,000 Vietnamese children.

This commemorative medical mission is a perfect example of how the Operation Smile Vietnam has grown over the past twenty years. The free programs will be conducted thanks to the generous donation of time and talent from more than 500 international medical volunteers from Vietnam, the U.S., the Philippines, the U.K., Canada, India, Norway, Hong Kong, China, Ireland, Australia, Brazil, Belgium, Italy and Cambodia.

I will have honor and pleasure of joining Dr. Daniel Taub and Dr. Mike Gioffre, Jr. on my third Operation Smile Vietnam Dental Mission in November.  We are a small group of doctors that is the tip of the spear in this fight to help needy children throughout the world, but we are fortunate to have a dedicated group of supporters backing our cause. The children of Vietnam are eternally grateful to you for all of your generous donations, words of encouragement, and prayers. As we look forward to future missions to Vietnam, I know that I can count on you and your family, friends, and colleagues for your continued support to help these children in need. Once again, thank you for your generous support!

  Sincerely,

Space Management and Esthetic Restorations in Pediatric Dentistry
Friday, March 12, 2010, 10:30 am  - 11:30 am
Dane Hoang, DDS, MS

By restoring primary teeth, some restorations may act as a natural space maintainer -- preventing the loss of arch length and the need for complex orthodontic treatment at a later stage. The potential benefits of using space maintaining appliances include reduced prevalence or severity of crowding, ectopic eruption, and tooth impaction- ATPA Dane bionot to mention the potential for considerable cost savings by reducing the need for future orthodontic treatment. A must see for general practitioners, Dr. Hoang's presentation will examine a variety of different esthetic restorations and the use of space maintainer appliances available in pediatric dentistry.
