Monkeying with the truth
Lynne McTaggart - What Doctors Don't Tell You

The US and UK governments and the press are exulting in the recent highly public hanging of Dr Andrew Wakefield, found guilty of misconduct by the British General Medical Council (GMC). Wakefield, you may recall, is the British gastroenterologist who first raised the alarm bells over the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine (MMR).

In the minds of many medicos and in the press, the MMR vaccine now stands fully vindicated. The scientist who claimed that the MMR vaccine causes autism has been discredited. Order has been restored.

In our Special Report this month, publisher Bryan Hubbard set out both to investigate the Wakefield decision and to uncover any evidence purporting to demonstrate the safety of the vaccine.

Wakefield never maintained that the MMR vaccine caused autism. All he did was raise a cautious alarm after finding that a number of children with autism were presenting with the same gut problems that seemed to have developed right after their MMR jabs.

Now, he and his colleagues in America have carried out a subsequent study on monkeys, which demonstrated that the hepatitis B vaccine can cause neurological damage and progressively severe chronic inflammation in gastrointestinal tissue-exactly what he originally discovered with the MMR vaccine and autistic children.

Despite being exhaustively peer-reviewed and accepted for publication, Wakefield's monkey study was subsequently pulled as 'not suitable' for publication after the GMC delivered its verdict. The pulling of the study ultimately became the centrepiece of our story. The more that Bryan dug into this issue, the more layers of deceit he uncovered in the form of censorship, data-massaging and burying of damning data.

He found dirty tricks at the heart of medicine that would have made Richard Nixon's Watergate henchmen proud. He found journalism bought and paid for by drug companies.

But what has been most shocking to us as journalists is the misinformation spread about by our own colleagues in the press. Virtually no major newspaper, or TV or radio station (save the Huffington Post) has bothered to look beyond the official releases of the GMC or government agencies to learn the truth about MMR. Some journalists have even allowed themselves to get in bed with drug companies.

The safety of the vaccine is now beside the point. Wakefield's error was to challenge medicine's most sacred cow: vaccination is now in a sense a standard-bearer for a certain mindset. It represents the triumph of Science over the randomness of Nature. Most doctors look to vaccination as proof that medicine has conquered infectious disease.

Researchers, scientific publications, doctors, drug companies and even journalists are willing to do almost anything to maintain that assumption of a priori benefit. Vaccination is now performed for its own sake-whether or not it is necessary, beneficial or even safe. To attack anything about any jab has come to be viewed as treason.

What needs to be put on display is not an honest scientist like Wakefield, but the level of deceit that is now routine-among scientists, researchers and reporters-all in the name of the public 'interest'.

Walking shoes are bad for our knees

31 March 2010

Sensible walking shoes, designed to give us additional support, are the very worst thing for our knees, and they could increase our chances of developing osteoarthritis. Instead, shoes that have flexible soles, and even flip-flop sandals, are kinder on our joints, a new study has discovered. Researchers at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago made the surprising discovery when they tested out four different types of shoe on 31 people with osteoarthritis. They found that special clogs, often worn by healthcare professionals who are on their feet all day, and special 'stability' shoes, which are designed for comfort, increased the pressure on the wearer's knees compared with the flat shoes with flexible soles, and with the flip-flops. The key seems to be the type of sole the shoe has: if it's flexible, it can reduce 'the load' on the knee joints as effectively as medical braces or shoe inserts, and higher heels may also be worse for the knee, even if they're part of a special walking shoe.

Positive outlook is one of the keys to preventing heart attack

17 March 2010

There's one thing that can dramatically reduce your risks of heart disease - and it's the one thing that doctors never mention: be happy, and retain a positive outlook. A positive attitude can have a big effect on the health of your heart, and could even halve your chances of suffering heart problems, and even a heart attack, over a 10-year period. Researchers from Columbia University Medical Centre in New York confirmed what we all instinctively know when they tracked the lives of 1,739 adult volunteers - 862 men and 877 women - over the 10 years. They wanted to gauge the impact of a positive attitude on heart health compared to a generally depressive view of life. In that time, there were 145 cases of fatal and non-fatal heart attacks, and when they eliminated all other factors, the researchers discovered that the volunteers with a generally depressed outlook were twice as likely as their happy counterparts to succumb to heart disease.

Use Natural Healing for Anxiety and Panic Disorders

Anxiety disorders are characterized by an overwhelming sense of apprehension. Sometimes such apprehension may become constant. Numerous physical symptoms may accompany anxiety with over 100 physical anxiety symptoms reported, including muscle tightness, heart palpitations, chest tightness/pain, dizziness, numbness, tingling, and electric shock feelings. Anxiety disorders often tend to progress to what is called a panic disorder and panic attacks. The Mayo Clinic definition of a panic attack is: "A panic attack is a sudden episode of intense fear that develops for no apparent reason and that triggers severe physical reactions. Panic attacks can be very frightening. When panic attacks occur, you might think you`re losing control, having a heart attack or even dying." That is why it is common for a person experiencing a panic attack to feel that death is imminent. Fortunately, there are some good natural solutions to combat anxiety and panic symptoms.

Anxiety and panic disorders are very common, having reached epidemic proportions. They affect an estimated 2.4 million Americans. That means that one in 113 Americans lives with this condition.

The causes for this disorder are varied. Sometimes it simply has a physical source. However, many times the disorder is due to emotional issues. Contributing to this disorder are environmental factors, one of the most important of which is poor nutrition. Sugar, processed foods, junk foods, fast foods, etc., all contribute to its devastating effects.

Medications given by conventional medicine, such as SSRI`s and benzodiazepines, only mask the symptoms. While at times appearing to bring relief, they come with their own price, addiction and side effects, some of which are dangerous. Additionally, benzodiazepines tend to lose their effect after a short period of time, necessitating an increase in dosage in order to attempt to relieve those dreaded bodily manifestations.

Natural alternatives are a safer and more effective way of dealing with anxiety and panic. There are supplements that will not only help to relieve those feelings of anxiety and panic but aid in total healing.

Colloidal Gold improves neural communication in the brain. It is believed to be responsible for reducing stress, anxiety, and depression.

Oleander Extract has demonstrated effectiveness against many conditions, including anxiety.

5-HTP turns into serotonin. Serotonin is important in regulating anxiety.

I-Theanine is a natural relaxant which supports the activity of certain neurotransmitters in the brain.

GABA - Low levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid may be responsible for a person not being able to handle day-to-day stress. GABA decreases anxiety, induces relaxation and increases alertness.

KAVA elevates mood, wellbeing and contentment.

Omega 3`s - Among their many benefits, Omega 3`s relieve depression and maintain emotional balance.

Hawthorne Berry Syrup, besides supporting the cardiovascular system, has been reported to be beneficial for heart symptoms suffered during anxiety and panic attacks.

Iodine Supplementation. Oftentimes, anxiety is the result of an iodine deficiency. It is recommended that anyone suffering from anxiety and panic symptoms have their thyroid checked.

Bach Flower Remedies aid in relieving a variety of emotional disorders.

Diet cannot be overlooked. Proper nourishment will result in less anxiety. The ideal diet consists of as many raw fruits and vegetables as possible with a little chicken, turkey, and fresh water fish. Foods containing L-Tryptophan, such as turkey, help the body to relax.

Relaxation exercises and meditation play an important part in healing, as does talking with a qualified therapist.

An anxiety disorder is a very complex condition, involving the emotional and the physical. Healing from this condition encompasses Body, Mind, and Spirit. The best option in achieving total healing is addressing it by using nature`s pharmacy.

How Soon is Too Soon for Infants to Start Drinking Soda?

If you really want to give your baby a head start in life by improving their social standing and guaranteeing their happiness, start feeding them Coca-Cola, Pepsi and other sugary carbonated beverages at the earliest age possible. Even babies as young as a few months old will enjoy the many benefits of soda pop.

Sound bizarre? That's the message the Soda Pop Board of America promoted back in the 1950's. Here's the actual text from a full-page ad:

(View the ad yourself at http://naturalnews.com/Images/Cola-... )

For a better start in life, Start COLA earlier! How soon is too soon?

Not soon enough. Laboratory tests over the last few years have proven that babies who start drinking soda during that early formative period have a much higher chance of gaining acceptance and "fitting in" during those awkward pre-teen and teen years.

So, do yourself a favor. Do your child a favor. Start them on a strict regimen of sodas and other sugary carbonated beverages right now, for a lifetime of guaranteed happiness.

The Soda Pop Board of America
1515 W. Hart Ave - Chicago, IL

- Promotes Active Lifestyle!
- Boosts Personality!
- Gives body essential sugars!

Sound familiar?
This marketing of harmful products to infants and toddlers sounds eerily familiar to the marketing tactics exploited by Big Pharma and its psychiatric drugs today. The words are almost exactly the same: "A lifetime of guaranteed happiness" echoes the marketing of any number of drugs such as Ritalin, Concerta or other psychotropic drugs.

Soda companies, much like drug companies, have relentlessly tried to convince parents that forcing their products onto their children is a smart thing to do. Do you see how drinking soda was linked to "fitting in" during the teen years? It's clever, covert persuasion: Your child will be "cool" if you feed him soda pop as an infant. But if you don't, your child may be an outcast!

It's the same with psychiatric drugs today: If you don't put your child on Concerta or other mind-altering drugs, they won't succeed in school! Or they'll be hated by their teachers...

It's all the same mind-game marketing, just dressed up with new chemicals.

What about obesity?
Did you notice that the Soda Pop Board of America somehow neglected to tell parents that feeding their babies sugary carbonated beverages may result in:

· Obesity
· Diabetes
· Loss of bone density
· Dental cavities
· Nutritional deficiencies

These "side effects" of consuming soda pop are mysteriously never mentioned. (Gee, I wonder why?)

Similarly, modern-day drug companies never tell parents the truth about how psychiatric drugs may cause:

· Diabetes
· Suicidal thoughts
· Violent behavior
· Stunted brain development

In both cases -- soda pop companies and pharmaceutical companies -- their job is to mislead parents into feeding their children poisons that just happen to generate huge profits for the companies doing the advertising.

The whole point of much of the advertising that goes on today is to mislead and mis-inform parents so that they make purchasing and consumption decisions that stand in contradiction to their own interests.

Coca-Cola, Big Tobacco and Big Pharma
Throughout the short history of corporate dominance over consumer purchasing behavior, three industries stand out as the most insidious and harmful to the People: The soda companies (Coke and Pepsi), the tobacco companies and the pharmaceutical companies.

In each of these cases, these industries sell toxic, harmful products to the public but position them as being extremely good for you.

How to Painlessly and Safely Remove Pesky Splinters

Most of us are familiar with the pain and aggravation that can come from splinters, which are usually small slivers of wood, metal or glass. Splinters can be difficult to remove and sometimes painful as well. If the splinter is not removed and removed cleanly, infection can result and sometimes the infection can become a serious one. The next time you get a splinter, try one or more of these tips to get it out as painlessly and safely as possible:

* Hydrogen Peroxide. Cover the area where the splinter is with hydrogen peroxide. Often the splinter will come out within minutes.

* Make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it on top of the splinter area. Cover it with a bandaid or other bandage and leave on overnight. You can also use a homemade paste of flour and water with a pinch of salt, making sure that the mixture is gooey and not runny.

* Take a whole egg and crack it (emptying the contents) so that only the shell remains. Place the inside (wet side) of the shell onto the splinter for a few minutes and the splinter should work its way far enough out till you can pick it right out.

* Place a piece of duct tape over the splinter and leave on for a half hour. Then slowly peel away. The splinter should come off with the tape.

* Put a piece of bread over the splinter and wrap a band-aid around it. Let it set overnight and the splinter may be drawn out and attached to the band-aid by morning. Another version of this remedy is to put a bit of milk on the bread.

* Before going to bed at night, place a very small piece of bacon fat on top of the splinter and cover with a bandaid. In the morning the splinter will usually have risen to the top where it can easily be removed.

* For thorns, use a piece of pantyhose to snag and pull them out. Works great for small thorns like those of cactus [needles].
[Additional note from Didi: Homeopathic LEDUM will immediately remove the swelling, infection and pain from Kenyan's local thorns]

* Onion or tomato. Apply a slice of fresh onion or tomato to draw the splinter to the surface of the skin.

* Honey is also effective to help the splinter be drawn to the surface. Apply honey to the area where the splinter is and see if it helps draw the splinter to the surface.

* When none of the above tips work to completely remove the splinter, you may need to resort to ice and tweezers. Apply ice to the area to numb the nerves and use a sterilized (by flame and/or rubbing alcohol) tweezers.

Once the splinter has been removed, be sure to disinfect the area with hydrogen peroxide and then apply something with good antiseptic properties to prevent infection. A combination of colloidal silver and aloe works very well, as does tea tree oil. You can also cover the area with raw organic honey, which has superior antiseptic and healing properties. The best of all honeys is manuka honey. Raw organic honey, tea tree oil and colloidal silver are all very good items to keep around the house for natural health and healing.

Wonder drug Multaq isn't so wonderful after all

07 April 2010

A great new 'wonder drug' for heart flutter is nothing of the sort. Multaq (dronedarone) is only as half as effective as existing drugs, and it's certainly no safer. This is a major blow for its manufacturer, Sanofi-Aventis, which has been touting Multaq as a wonder drug for other heart problems, too. But researchers from the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute in Los Angeles discovered that the new drug was only half as effective as the current standard drug, Cordarone (amiodarone) for atrial fibrillation, or heart flutter. Instead of becoming the new standard therapy, Multaq should be used only as a back-up, say the researchers.

Vitamin E wards off glaucoma and cataracts

07 April 2010

There's a simple and effective way you can ward off glaucoma - the second leading cause of blindness - and other eye problems such as cataracts, researchers have reported this week. If you're a contact lens wearer, just add a few drops of vitamin E into the lens before putting it into the eye. The vitamin, an antioxidant, can help fight eye diseases such as glaucoma and cataracts, and it also blocks UV radiation, which can also damage the eye. The one problem is that the eyes natural tears can wash away the vitamin before it can do bits good work. To counter this, researchers at the University of Florida are developing an extended-release lens that could even be worn for as long as a month. At the moment they've successfully tested the lens on dogs in a laboratory.
