ice cream, yo

Recently, the blogosphere has been all atwitter about the world's first amphibious ice cream truck, which first set sail on the Thames last month. It was created by Cadbury ice cream in celebration of National Ice Cream Week (May 30th - June 5th). This summer it will be touring UK beaches and selling tasty treats on land and sea.

While the van is unlikely to withstand any serious storms or pirate attacks at sea, it can travel at close to 6mph while playing jangly tunes.

In a wonderfully elegant solution for bike riders and drivers alike, product design student Emily Brooke (pictured) of the University of Brighton's School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics has invented a type of portable, virtual bike lane.

The invention is a small, battery-powered device that attaches to the bike's handlebars and projects a green laser image onto the road. This glowing sign alerts drivers to the cyclist's presence.
