More on Meditation September 24, 2008

Dear Friends,
As we begin to slow down and come back in with the fall season, here at Summit Spring we are enjoying bringing a meditation series to the center for three Wednesday evenings this month. We have all learned the practice of Chakra Tai Chi, Fritz Smith's Inner Smile Meditation and sat together, each of us experiencing our own personal journey to stillness.
We would like to share some thoughts from our friend Chet Day, author of Earth Rain Meditations, who offers this lovely Japanese proverb...
If that which is within is not right, it is futile to ask for that which is without. Many of us spend so much time wishing and hoping for something outside of ourselves to enter our worlds and change them to what we think they are supposed to be. The next time you find yourself wishing for that which is without, turn your thoughts to that which is deeply within you.
Try this...take a long deep breath, pause, and exhale slowly. Do this several times until you begin to take notice of the deep peace between breaths. That place is always there and you may enter it anytime you choose by bringing your thoughts back to your breath. As many of our great teachers offer, accepting everything the way it is, in every moment of your life, is a good way to make right that which is within.
Peace to all,
Chris, Eric, Suzy
