The Fly
|
| |
A Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman walk into a pub. They each buy a pint of Guiness beer.
Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage three flies landed in each of their pints, and were stuck in the thick head.
The Englishman pushed his beer away from him in disgust.
The Scotsman fished the offending fly out of his beer and continued drinking it as if nothing had happened.
The Irishman too, picked the fly out of his drink, held it out over the beer and then started yelling, "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!!"

Tools of the Trade March 2011
|
Greetings!
March is a busy month, St. Patrick's Day, Mardi Gras, and SXSW to name just a few of the things happening this month. The clocks roll forward, the days get warmer and new life is exploding everywhere (almost time to start cutting the grass again!).
The past few weeks have been busy for us, trying to move while still doing everything else that has to be done every day has been interesting. I think our phones were even down for a few days. It seems like it is always something though, right?
So, what is new with you these days? I ask that often but let me be more specific this month. Have you considered adding scanning to what you are doing now as a way to do what you are doing currently better or to even go into new markets? Have you been focusing any on BIM and how you can fit in to the BIM process? Have you upgraded your software or wondering why it would be worthwhile to have AutoCAD and Carlson 2011? Finally, have you spent time trying to figure out how to do something with no luck?
This is where we come in. Email or call me and say Paul, I want to learn more about how I can put a scanner to work for me. Paul, we have been hearing about BIM for a year now, and recently we were told we had to do it, but we do not know where to start. Paul, we need pricing on upgrades because we are behind. Paul, we need to know how to move data from Carlson to GeoPak and I bet there are other things we can learn, come work with us for a few hours. Those are the things we do. Most companies don't realize they would benefit from a 1-2 hour Q&A session with me. When we do training and consulting we do not have cookie cutter templates we use for these, we customize to YOUR needs, even if it means a brown bag lunch session. Call or email me to find out how we can help!
As I said last month, there are some interesting and exciting things happening at CDS these days and I hope we can have the information on our web site soon, and start sharing it with all of you. So, until next month best wishes, be safe, and most importantly don't be a stranger!
Sincerely, Paul M. Carlson CDS - President

Tips & Tricks
B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!! B.I.M.!!
Say no more. We have been hearing a LOT about B.I.M. over the past few years but so far it has kept away from Surveyors and Contractors and hung out in the offices of Architects and M.E.P. guys. As more people understand what B.I.M. is and as more client's require this Building Information Modeling it is making it's way into the office of the Surveyor and the Contractor. It is actually NOT time to cue that infamous R.E.M. song, but instead cue up this video I put together to help shed a little light on this topic. Click here to watch the video.
To learn more about how CDS can work with you on this or other training/consulting projects call our office or email me directly at pmcarlson@carlsonds.com.
