Lost and Endangered

A hiker became lost and ends up spending the next three days wandering around in the woods looking for food. Finally, he spots a bald eagle perched on a ledge, hits it with a big rock, and begins eating the bird raw.

A park ranger stumbles onto the scene, finds the hiker eating the bird, and arrests him for killing an endangered species.

In court the hiker explains that he was on the edge of starvation and had no choice.

"Considering the circumstances, I find you not guilty," says the judge. "But I have to ask - what did the bald eagle taste like?"

"Well, your honor," the hiker says, "it tasted like a cross between a whooping crane and a spotted owl."

Tools of the Trade February 2011
Greetings!

Happy February!!  I hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day and things are continuing to move in a positive direction for you.  While we are seeing some mixed indicators across the nation, here in Texas things are continuing to look up.

From the CDS front there is not a lot of news this month, but there are a lot of things in the works and a lot of exciting things coming.  We are moving our Austin location and I will have more details on that when the move is finalized.  Our sister company Geomatic Resources in Irving Texas has added Jamie Gillis to their staff and we are all really excited about that.  You can read the full press release below in the news section or click here.

I am working on some new marketing pieces that showcase the partnership with our sister company Geomatic Resources.  In 2011 CDS will be taking a more active role in working with them on Leica HDS and Leica Machine control.  You can take a sneak peak at some of this in the Tech Corner this month and also keep an eye out for more to come.

CDS will continue to focus on software such as Autodesk and Carlson, but will also work more closely with Geomatic Resources on Leica software such as LCO and Cyclone.  We are basically taking a more active role in supporting Geomatic Resources staff and clients on the software and data side as well as training and consulting.

I think we have some very exciting things coming in 2011 so please keep an eye here and on our website www.carlsonds.com for details!

I wish you the absolute best and look forward to speaking with you soon!

Sincerely,
Paul M. Carlson
CDS - President
