Efficiency

An efficiency expert concluded his lecture with a note of caution. "You don't want to try these techniques at home." "Why not?" asked somebody from the audience. "I watched my wife's routine at breakfast for years," the expert explained. "She made lots of trips between the refrigerator, stove, table and cabinets, often carrying a single item at a time. One day I told her, 'Hon, why don't you try carrying several things at once?'" "Did it save time?" the person in the audience asked. "Actually, yes," replied the expert. "It used to take her 20 minutes to make breakfast. Now I do it in seven."

Tools of the Trade November 2009
Greetings!

December is here already.  Can you believe it?  December is usually the month we get ready for the next year and take time to reflect on the year gone by.  I personally have a lot of good to take from this year, and a lot to look forward to.  CDS has been blessed with great clients that give us the opportunity to do what we do best, and we are looking forward to another year of working with you.

My training schedule is still filling, already spilling into February.  Some people are trying to position for the future, some trying to spend the end of year profits, and some looking for those much needed CEUs which we provide for some of our classes.   Whichever you need we are here to help!

We are also winding down on inventory for the end of the year and are offering AMAZING deals on some of our in-stock Altus GPS systems as well as in-stock Nikon Total Stations and Allegro data collectors.  Look for the DEALS section here in the news letter or call us for more details.  These prices will last through the end of the month and only while supplies last so act fast if you are looking for equipment before the end of the year.

I hope this year has left you with a lot to be thankful for, and you are encouraged looking at what lies ahead.   I hope 2010 brings you better times than 2009, and when we talk again this time next year you have even more to be thankful for!

For all of those traveling, we wish you safe travels.  From our family to yours we would also like to wish you a very Merry Christmas, the Happiest of Holidays, and a great New Year.

Sincerely,
Paul M. Carlson

Tips & Tricks

questionHow can you create good presentations for clients without buying more software for presentations?

answer stamp There are a few ways and some do include other software.  The answer is really dependant on what you are looking to give your client.  A simple thing you can do to add a little flash is to attach an image.  Remember not everyone can make sense of a plan with a bunch of contour lines.  Which offers the next suggestion of offering 3D models for your clients. Another simple option often overlooked is using "Paper Space".  This video will show you just a couple of things you can do with Paper Space Viewports in CAD.  Click here to watch the video.

Led by California and Texas, twenty states account for more than 75% of the US construction market. The projected recovery in the construction market early next year must be driven by a significant improvement in a large share of these key states. A pickup in construction activity in the thirty smaller states would not be sufficient to set off a national market recovery. The strongest regional economies and the construction markets that have held up best are in the smallest states, such as Wyoming and the Dakotas. Read more.
