See what you are missing...
Greetings!

Can you believe it is August already?  While this has been a very painful year for many of us we are already well over half way through it!  The kids are going back to school, football is just around the corner, and it is almost time for the annual TSPS Convention (held in Austin this year).

I have contacted dozens of clients recently just to find out how things are going and what we can do to help.  We got some good feedback and a lot of insight on changes in the market that looks somewhat promising.  Many people are using this time to begin to streamline what they have and make sure they can get by with it, and a few are making new purchases as they can.

We are here to help on both fronts.  If you need that new instrument or data collector, give us a call.  If you want to upgrade your software to get access to new technology that will help automate and streamline your business we have that too.  Most importantly, if we sell it, we support it.  This means you are not stuck just getting by.

We have several customers bidding on jobs that are tighter than they have ever seen and are looking for ways to streamline their processes and become more competitive while still producing high quality deliverables.  That is our specialty.  Take Field-to-Finish for example.  By simply adjusting what is done in the field and how it is handled in the office, we can reduce time and more importantly errors and ommisions often caused from the lack of time.

If you are ready for a "tune-up" give us a call and let CDS put together a training plan for your company to help you stay ahead of the competition.  If you are looking for new total stations, GPS, software, accessories, or data collectors let us help there too.  I have said it dozens of times in the past, we don't want to just sell you stuff, we want to make sure you have what you need and can make it work for you.

Sincerely,
Paul M. Carlson

question Why "field-to-finish" and why now?

answer stamp There has never been a better time to streamline your operation than now.  With bids getting lower and lower and every company trying to grab what work is available it is hard to stick to business as usual.  We did a seminar in Austin last month and I focused my portion on field collection and processing of field data.  I focused on the process from collection to processing because this is an area we can greatly reduce time and improve output.  This video shows some of the things we were able to do in the seminar with minor changes in this process.

Carlson 2010 Software Release

Providing more than 400 new features and enhancements, the Carlson 2010 product line includes Carlson Survey, Carlson Civil, Carlson Hydrology, Carlson Takeoff, Carlson GIS, Carlson Mining, Carlson Field, and Carlson PointCloud, which now handles one billion points. In addition, a new product, Carlson Construction, will be released soon.  Here is just a glimpse of the many improvements you'll find in the extensive Carlson 2010 product line:

Support for IntelliCAD6.6 and the AutoCAD2010 product line - Carlson 2010 comes with IntelliCAD built-in and also will support the AutoCAD 2010 family of products. Considering Land Desktop's "retirement," now is a good time to look to Carlson to meet your needs. NOTE: For Carlson IntelliCAD users out there, be sure to inquire about the complimentary Carlson-IntelliCAD GIS Starter Kit provided by ESRI.

Getting 2 for 1 with Carlson Survey - C&G and Carlson Survey are together at last for the 2010 release. Pick your favorite aspect of either software to work better, faster. Also, new smart annotation rules, multiple backsights, command settings manager, standard drawing entities, and more than 35 addition survey-specific improvements.
Improved Watershed Delineation and HydroCAD linkage - Watersheds will be able to be delineated by three levels in Carlson Hydrology: drainage, land use, and soil type. Plus, the data collaboration between Carlson Hydrology and HydroCAD will help users "save time on repetitious data entry, increasing their accuracy and giving them access to HydroCAD's extensive rainfall libraries and stormwater chamber specifications."
