Greetings!

March brings in lots of changes and news from CDS!  We began as a software provider in Austin Texas and quickly saw that what was needed was someone who could do more than just sell a total station or a seat of software.  We needed someone who could provide it all and understood it all.

We added the Altus GPS line last year and followed that with Seco, Nikon and TDS.  Today we are excited to announce that we have also added products from Sokkia!  This is another step we have taken to round out our product offering ensuring we have the best of what is out there and can supply and support you in your efforts.

We added Damon and Joe last year and in March we have acquired the Arkansas location of Cornerstone Measurement Solutions in Little Rock.  You can read the full press release here or click here to read the letter we sent to clients in Arkansas explaining the change.

What does this all mean to you?  It means we have what you need, where you need it and we know how to put it to work for you.  We have continued our growth with continued dedication to our clients and have added the people and products that can help you get to the next level.

We truly are your complete Field-to-Finish solution provider and can support your job from beginning to end; from the first nail in the pavement, the first data dump, the design and analysis process, to the first stake in the ground.  At CDS we not only have what you need, but we have the people who are here to help you use it to its fullest potential.

So until next month, we wish you a Happy Saint Patrick's Day and look forward to being your partner on whatever lies ahead.

Sincerely,
Paul M. Carlson

Tech Report

questionAre there better tools available inside of Carlson than just the basic AutoCAD tools?  For example easier or better ways to draw polylines than the standard tools.  There are many LISP routines available, but having something right there at your fingertips may prove to be benificial

answer stampLISP routines are a great way to customize or combine tools or commands to get the result you need.  When you look deeper inside Carlson Software you can begin to find some of these things that were written in LISP years ago have been made part of common commands you use every day.  Once you know they are there and can begin to unlock some of them the sky is the limit for what you can do.  Click here to watch a brief video showing 2 examples of polyline tools many people probably do not know exist.

Email your questions to support@carlsonds.com and your question could be here next month!

Autodesk News

Autodesk 2010 Software to be released this month. The DWG format is changing for this release so those planning to wait another year to upgrade might want to reconsider.

Autodesk's 2010 software portfolio for building information modeling will help enable building designers, civil engineers, contractors and the clients they serve to more easily create and profit from digital design data and better communication across extended project teams. By investing in BIM, AEC firms can more accurately visualize, simulate and analyze project performance, appearance and cost, to create more resource-efficient buildings and infrastructure, as well as renovate or replace aging infrastructure.
