Greetings!
Should auld acquaintance be
forgot,
And never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days o' lang syne ?
Happy New Year! For many entering a new year means a fresh
start, a chance to make changes and make things better. Maybe some of us will work less this year and
spend more time with family. Maybe we
will lose weight or quit smoking.
Perhaps all of the newly elected government officials will take their
respective offices and make well needed changes to put 2009 on a better track
than the one on which 2008 finished.
What makes this time of year
so special and exciting to me is the idea of facing new challenges and doing
things even better than we did in 2008. Having
individuals like Damon and Joe on our team gives me the confidence to know that
whatever we do this year is going to be big, and is going to be good.
We plan to continue our plan for national growth in 2009 by adding key people throughout the year. Our web site has been under construction for the past few months and we hope to roll out the changes early in Q1 of 2009. Some of the changes include an improved on-line store that will make on-line purchasing even easier than it is now. We will continue our internal training efforts to make sure we are experts on the products we carry. All of these things point back to one thing, our clients. Our focus in 2009 is not to continue the level of service we provided in 2008, but to exceed it!
Bill Vaughn once said, "An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays
up to make sure the old year leaves." So be you an optimist or a pessimist, here is to watching 2008 leave and ushering in 2009.
Sincerely, Paul M. Carlson
"Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh
page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one,
according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird
himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the
things that were and are past." ~Henry Ward Beecher

Tech Report
"We are a construction company currently using Carlson
TakeOFF, Altus GPS, and Carlson SurvCE to do all of our layout. Lately we
have had the need to do volume checks on some of our stock piles, for planning
as well as double checking that the correct amount was delivered. What is
the best, easiest, fastest and most importantly most accurate way to get the
volumes of the piles using the tools we have available to us?"
90 West Contractors
Del Rio, TX
That is a great question and there are actually several answers! Depending on which program you have and how quickly you need the results you actually have several methods to get accurate, easy, fast volumes using Carlson products. Click here to watch a video that shows a few of those options including volumes using SurvCE. (please be patient, download takes a few minutes)

Autodesk News
If you did not go to Autodesk
University, you really missed out. I have been in this industry since the
late '90s and this was my first time going, but it will not be my last.
The plethora of information and talent that was pooled together during that
week was simply amazing. I even learned
things sitting at a black jack table and walking down the hallways! If you are not sure if you should send your
employees to AU next year, let me make the decision easier for you...SEND
THEM!
Over the coming months we will
provide samples of the information we learned at AU both on our web site and
here in the monthly newsletters.
