Greetings!

I would like to start by wishing you a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!  It's nice to have an extra day once in a while to spend with friends and family.

The dictionary defines the word labor as a noun as "physical or mental work, especially of a hard or fatiguing kind; toil." The word has many meanings as a verb as well, my favorite being "to strive, as toward a goal; work hard (often followed by for)".

Every day at CDS we "labor" for our clients, just as you do for yours.  We strive to reach our goal of being the best at what we do and work hard to achieve our goal, to earn the respect and trust of each and every one of our clients.

So when we take a day off from work, you can rest assured that we are still thinking of new and better ways to serve you and provide the highest level of products, service, and support possible.

If you have not already signed up for the TSPS Chapter 2 Golf Tournament and you are interested please download the form here, I think there are still some spaces available.  This will be fun for all and helps a good cause.

Sincerely,

Paul Carlson

"We use Carlson TakeOff to perform quantity calculations on construction projects. If we are removing existing pavement and then building new pavement or features over that area, will TakeOff recognize that the existing pavement has been removed when performing proposed quantity calculations? These quantities can add up to a substantial amount of earthwork that if not put into our bid, we will be responsible for without compensation. What is the easiest and best procedure to get the result we want for this scenario using Carlson TakeOff?"

answer stampThis is a real issue for contractors assembling bids and engineers providing cost estimates/preparing bid documents.  If the contractor's bid is off due to a miscalculation, they have little recourse for compensation resulting in costly project overruns; if the engineer's estimate is off they (and their client) are opened up for costly change orders.

This is why we get so excited about Carlson TakeOFF, the power and flexibility of the program.  Carlson TakeOff  can take into consideration the removal of existing features such as parking lots, roadways, topsoil, etc. Even better, TakeOff provides you the quantities that are being removed in a detailed report along with the proposed quantizes.  To learn one way of doing this using Carlson TakeOFF click here to learn more.
