The System p5 510 and 510Q Express servers provide availability, flexibility and security features designed for reliable application serving in a compact 2U package. Fueled by IBM's most advanced POWER5™ 64-bit technology with simultaneous multithreading 1, these 19-inch rack-mount servers deliver up to 4-core scalability and outstanding price/performance.

The System p5 510 Express platform is a 1- or 2-core database server with a 2.1 GHz POWER5+ dual-core processor module. It can function as an entry-level application server for businesses of all sizes. The performance, reliability and affordability features of the p5-510 Express can make it a strategic platform for e-commerce application serving and compute-intensive business applications.

New Custom Work Flow Alerts are available if you need these additional features!
MCS is pleased to offer some new work flow alerts that can be customized to your business. We are introducing three at this time with additional alerts soon to be announced.
  • Accounts Receivable - New Customers added Alert - Uses date added in customer file equal to today's date and territory equal to 'OR' or 'WS'. Info sent is name, number, territory and date added.
  • Accounts Receivable - Customers Suspended today alert -  Uses customer audit activity file to flag any customers with today's date and suspended. The customer name also has to have -CLOSED- somewhere in the name so customers suspended until they pay up do not show on the alert.
  • Customer Service - Notify of Special Orders that have been sent Alert - Sends message to original user of the order if a special order that hasn't been invoiced and has been received. Info sent is order, customer, item, qty ord, qty b/o, original user, entry date and requested ship date. Also updates a user field for the item on special order so the recipient doesn't get multiple messages until the order is invoiced.

If you would like more information on these new alerts or you have a suggestion for a custom work flow alert, please contact sales@maximumcomputer.com.
Stimulus Act - Section 179 - Important for Businesses making equipment purchases in 2010!
Business Equipment

Business owners who acquire  equipment, for their business: machinery, computers, and other tangible goods, usually prefer to deduct the cost in a single tax year, rather than a little at a time over a number of years.  This deduction is known in the tax code as Section 179 deduction.

Under this section, businesses that spend less than $800,000 a year on qualified equipment and software, may write-off up to $250,000 in 2010.  These rules are designed for small companies.

Benefits of a Capital Lease (non-tax lease)

The benefit of a Capital Lease (non-tax) is that it can take advantage of Section 179: expense up to $250,000 if the equipment is put in use in 2010. In addition, you may depreciate any excess on the depreciation schedule for that asset.  Examples of Capital Leases include a $1.00 Buyout Lease, an Equipment Finance Agreement, and a 10% Purchace Upon Termination Lease.  Example: Assume you finance business equipment, put it in use in 2010, and take advantage of Section 179.  Your Savings could be significant.

Tax/True Lease Benefits

If a lease is a Tax Lease/True Lease, the lessor retains ownership and you, as the lessee, may be allowed to claim the entire amount of the monthly investment as a tax deduction.  Many rental contracts qualify as a true lease including a 10% Option and a Fair Market Value Lease.

The third quarter is upon is so take advantage  if you plan to puchase!

IBM i Program Conversion: Getting Ready for V6R1 and Beyond
IBM i customers have been informed that IBM i V5R4 will be withdrawn from marketing in January, 2011 and that support will be terminated one year later in January, 2012.  IBM V6R1 is the minimum OS version required for the recently announced POWER7 servers.  Customers should be planning now for upgrading to IBM V6R1 or V7R1.  The upgrade from V5R4 (or earlier releases) to V6R1 or V7R1 involves planning for a program conversion.  Customers can do the planning and upgrade them or can get assistance from certified and trained specialists.
