Inforum 2008

What Happens In Vegas, Doesn't Stay In Vegas:

Infor put on a great event and they also provided a sound statement of direction.   Infor had a number of announcements that I think are important to make sure everyone knows.  The good news is Infor and Aplus are alive and thriving!  Inform made a number of product announcements like, My Day, Infor Decision, Demand Planning, Max Recall, Master Data Management, and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM).

The conference also offered the opportunity for the National Aplus Customer Group (NAPCG) to meet and have open discussions about what they thought should be considered for the next release.  If you are not a member of this group I would encourage you to visit the NAPCG website @ www.theusergroup.org and sign up and vote.

Stay tuned for upcoming Webinars on this latest leading edge solutions.

When Is Your IBM Maintenance Up For Renewal?
I am sure the last question that you're asking yourself is - 'When does That IBM Hardware and Software Maintenance for the AS/400 come up for renewal?' Tracking your IBM services is among the things I do best.
It is extremely important to keep your IBM Maintenance up to date. If you choose to let your Software Maintenance for iSeries lapse, or the renewal is not received by IBM before the day before the expiration date, a Software Maintenance After License Fee (MAL) will be added to the renewal price in order to re-instate Software Maintenance for the iSeries. Lapses in your Hardware Maintenance will result in costly IBM T/M (time & materials) charges to make the needed repairs.
IBM SWMA (Software Maintenance) continues to offer:
  • Software upgrade entitlement within the coverage period for eligible i5/OS (OS/400) operating system software and selected licensed programs.
  • Access to IBM remote technical software support.
  • Processor-based pricing.
  • Coverage period options of one year or three years.
By renewing your IBM Maintenance through MCS you will receive a quote up to two months in advance of your renewal date. Get 1 or 3 year prepaid contract to eliminate any interim surprise rate increases on the term of your agreement. I take pride in handling all of the IBM paperwork for you - even composing cancellation notification letters. You will have a single contact for questions concerning your IBM maintenance coverage.

Please contact Fred Apollo to find out when your maintenance is up for renewal and a quote for the renewal if it is within 90 days of the cancellation day. Call Fred at 631-738-0500 x103 or email him at Fred@maximumcomputer.com for more detailed information.
MCS A+ Seminar Success in Buffalo

Buffalo SeminarMaximum Computer Systems would like to thank all those who were able to attend our A+ user conference at The Marriott in Buffalo, NY and made it such a success. A special thanks to Mike Budzig and his team at Gemko for helping us organize our event. The setting was an informal round table and we especially welcomed the opportunity to meet with all of you in person and to discuss your needs and concerns.

The topics covered were varied and provided an overview of several A+ modules that can add real value to your investment in A+. Please be on the lookout for an A+ seminar in your area soon.
Need an IBM Twin-ax CRT?

IBM CRTIBM stopped manufacturing twin-ax CRTs in the mid-1990's. The  very last CRTs that IBM produced were the 3488/89 models. MCS has obtained a supply of IBM 3488-V122 logic units with 122-key keyboards and twin-ax Y-connectors. These are 4-session units with parallel printer port and barcode wand support. They require a customer supplied VGA display or analog flat-panel display. If your old 5250 console has a burnt screen or you want to use your KVM switch in conjunction with your AS/400-iSeries-System I CPU.

While supply lasts, the 3488's are priced to sell - $175 each, or 2 for $300.
