Greetings!
I hope you had a wonderful holiday season. Thanks to all who gave so generously to our adopted family. It was a great success.
We at Riverflow Yoga would like to help make 2009 your happiest and healthiest year ever. If you haven't made yoga a part of your weekly routine now is a good time to start. We are offering unlimited yoga for the months of February and March for only $150.
As you may know yoga can increase your strength, flexibility, balance, coordination and lung capacity. It aids with digestion, your immune system response, lowers blood pressure and helps relieve chronic pain symptoms, and those are only some of the physical benefits. Yoga also increases concentration, reduces stress and enhances your overall mood and sense of well being. But what I find to be the most exciting benefit of yoga is the positive effects it has on the aging process. Think of yoga as your own fountain of youth. Remember a healthy, flexible spine is a young spine!
The more yoga you do the more benefits you reap and the younger you will feel.
Why not make 2009 the year you commit to at least 3 yoga classes a week.
See you in class!
Namaste,
Elizabeth |

| YOGA & CHOCOLATE |
Introduction to Anusara Yoga
Please join us Saturday, February 14th at 1pm for a heart-centered yoga experience with Christine Wilkinson, Christine is a certified yoga instructor studying the Anusara style of yoga. Anusara is a popular style of yoga whose uplifting philosophy can be described as a "celebration of the heart" that looks for the good in all people and all things.
This FREE, 90 minute class, is designed to engage and open your heart chakra in a light hearted and playful but challenging way. Knowledge of basic yoga poses is required.
After class we will be having sweets and hot chocolate, followed by a Q&A with Christine.
The class is free to all but donations to childHELPusa are greatly appreciated.
Please do not wear scent of any kind as Christine is highly allergic.
This class will be taped for Christine's anusara teacher certificate. |
| Pose of the Month |
Bridge Pose - Setu Banda In this pose your body bends into the shape of a bridge increasing spine flexibility and opening the front of the body, helping energy to flow to your heart chakra.
Lie flat on your back with your knees bent, feet hip width apart and parallel. Inhaling, lift your hips and chest upward, resting your body weight between your shoulders and your feet, pressing into all four corners of your feet evenly. Stretch your arms along side your body towards your heels or interlace your fingers behind your back, drawing your shoulder blades together and resting on your triceps.
Breath deeply, think about lifting your heart skyward. After several breaths, slowly lower your spine and relax. The sanskrit name for the heart chakra, anahata, means "the centre of the unstuck sound" . As you relax do what its name urges: draw within, away from your sense organs, and tune into the pure silence of your heart.
