REGISTRATION DEADLINE
June 16, 2008 is the last day to register and be eligible to vote in the upcoming Primary Elections in the State of Georgia. To register to vote, log on to the State of Georgia's Election Division Web site or contact your local county board of registrars' office (see below), public library, schools and other government offices for a mail-in registration form. You may also register to vote when you renew or apply for your driver's license. HAMMOND PARK SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM
Registration will continue throughout the summer for the Hammond Park Summer Camp programs. A variety of fun, instructional activity and sports camps are offered for boys and girls ages 3-17 throughout the summer. Participants have the opportunity to improve sports skills, create an art masterpiece or learn something new! Camp offerings include volleyball, lacrosse, basketball, soccer, tennis, gymnastics, preschool gymnastics, cheerleading and artsy smartsy. MORGAN FALLS PARK MASTER PLAN
The Sandy Springs City Council is scheduled to review the Morgan Falls Park Master Plan on Tuesday, June 3rd at the Regular City Council Meeting. Plans include access to the river with a courtesy dock, boat ramp and fishing pier. There are also plans for picnic areas, a playground and restroom facilities. More details will be soon after the Master Plan begins.

ADULT SUMMER BASKETBALL LEAGUES - TEAM REGISTRATION
 Registration for the summer adult basketball leagues is open through June 12. The men's B2/C league will play on Mondays and Wednesdays and a men's A/B1 league will play on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The team fee is $405.00. League play will begin the week of June 23rd. |

INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS
The intersection improvement program continues to move forward as intersection improvements were completed at the following locations:
- Johnson Ferry Road and Roswell Road -A sign was installed to alert motorist not to turn right off of Johnson Ferry Road while traffic was coming westbound on Johnson Ferry Road.
- Dunwoody Place and Hope Road -Improvements include handicap ramps and pedestrian upgrades.
- Glenridge Drive and Mabry Road -Reconstruction of the round-a-bout was completed and the intersection was completely rebuilt.
Work continues to take place at these locations:
Johnson Ferry / Glenridge / Glenairy, Mt Vernon and Dupree, Dunwoody Place and Hightower Trail. These upgrades includes a combination of: pedestrian upgrades, signal upgrades, striping enhancements and sidewalks.

PAVING PROGRAM UPDATE
The 2008 Paving Program is continuing with work on Allen Road from Roswell Road to Lake Forest Drive and New Northside Drive from Northside Drive to Interstate North Parkway. This work will take place during night hours from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. The work is scheduled to be complete on June 6, 2008.

SANDY SPRINGS SIDEWALK UPDATES
Mt. Vernon Parkway Sidewalks and Traffic Calming Project: The project to install approximately 4600 linear feet of sidewalk plus new curb and gutter on the northbound lane of Mt. Vernon Parkway from Crest Valley Drive to Mt. Vernon Highway is complete. River Valley Road Sidewalk Project: The Georgia Department of Transportation has certified funding for this project area to install sidewalks on both sides of River Valley Road from Amberidge Trail to Riverside Drive. Bidding is planned for June with construction activity anticipated to begin in the fall. Sandy Springs Middle School Sidewalks: More than 2,800 feet of new sidewalk was constructed on North River Parkway supporting safe pedestrian access to the school. Additional work is planned on nearby streets within the next 90 days. Dunwoody Springs Charter Elementary School Sidewalks: Work is planned to begin this month to construct approximately 2,600 feet of sidewalk along Northridge Road. |

BRIDGE PROGRAM UPDATE
The City of Sandy Springs has completed the City's first bridge maintenance program project on Glenridge Drive Bridge north of Abernathy Road. The work was completed to give needed structural repairs to the bridge before serious deterioration could occur that would cost the City a great deal more time and money.

No open houses will be held over the summer. All future City open houses will be held at City Hall. Please take advantage of these opportunities to meet and speak with City officials about the various topics presented.
