Welcome to the May 2008 edition of the Sandy Springs E-Blast. The purpose of this newsletter is to provide the residents and visitors of Sandy Springs information regarding the City's accomplishments, current projects and goals for the future. RECREATION AND PARKS DEPARTMENT PRESENTS ITS
2008 SUMMER-FALL PROGRAM SCHEDULE

Rec Guide 08The 2008 summer-fall program schedule of recreational activities offered by the Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks Department is now available.  Registration is currently taking place for the Hammond Park Summer program which includes a variety of fun, instructional activity and sports camps for boys and girls ages 3-17. The Sandy Springs Tennis Center is also conducting registration for its upcoming Summer Junior Tennis Camp program which is available for youth ages 6-16. HAMMOND PARK ANNUAL SPRING SHOW
On Saturday, May 17th bring the whole family for an afternoon of fun and entertainment while the Hammond Park students in gymnastics, dance, karate and other recreation programs showcase their skills and talents during our annual Spring Show.  Event time is 1:00 p.m. in the Hammond Park gymnasium.  Admission is free and all ages are invited.

Intersection Improvements have started at the following intersections:

T-7101 Roswell Road at Johnson Ferry - 80% complete

T-7102 Glenridge Connector at Johnson Ferry Road - 75% Complete

T-7109 Glenridge Drive at Mabry Road - 25% Complete

T-7114 Dunwoody Place at Hightower Trail - 40% Complete

T-7115 Dunwoody Place at Hope Road - 90% Complete

 

Intersections not yet started:

T-7111 Mount Vernon Highway at Dupree Drive-Powers Ferry Road

T-7104 Spalding Drive at Dalrymple Road-Trowbridge Road

SANDY SPRINGS SIDEWALK UPDATES

River Valley Road Sidewalk Project:  This project to install sidewalks on both sides of River Valley Road from Amberidge Trail to Riverside Drive is in final coordination with the Georgia Department of Transportation prior to bidding. Work is anticipated to take place this summer and fall. Public Works staff greatly appreciates all of the updated Temporary Driveway Easements mailed in, thus far.        

 

Sidewalk Program, Sandy Springs Middle School:  A project to construct a sidewalk along North River Parkway will begin in May. Anticipated construction duration is 90 days.

SANDY SPRINGS OPEN HOUSE
Sandy Springs will be hosting its monthly Open House on May 12th at City Hall. This is the fourth of the new format of meeting where community members can drop in between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to get information and share input on projects and activities from across city departments.
