| Safe Act Compliance
20 Hour Requirement and Testing |

Title V of P.L. 110-289, the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 ("SAFE Act"), was passed on July 30, 2008. In addition to other requirements, the SAFE Act requires state-licensed MLOs to pass a written qualified test, to complete pre-licensure education courses, and to take annual continuing education courses. The SAFE Act also requires all MLOs to submit fingerprints to the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) for submission to the FBI for a criminal background check; and state-licensed MLOs to provide authorization for NMLS to obtain an independent credit report.
DAR Affiliate Member Mark DiMercurio has negotiated a discounted rate for the 20 hour continuing education requirement as well as a class that covers test preparation and materials from TrainingPro. This will prepare lenders for the NMLS testing for the Safe Act.
The cost is $289 per student. The classes will be from 8:00am to 7:00pm on Monday and Tuesday April 12-13. There are 10 seats available. Contact Mark DiMercurio at Delta Lending Group for reservations.

Bay East, Contra Costa and EBRDI have issued a press release about the new reciprocal agreement with other Neighboring Multiple Listing Services. Bottom line: You now have much greater access to Northern California MLS areas and it won't have to join each to have that access. They are looking for REALTORS® who are making an exceptional impact on their communities through volunteer work.
