My Dog Ate My License
By Denise Stewart, 2010 President | The night of our installation banquet at Lone Tree Event Center, my dog ate my license.
As my guests and family members of were dressing for the installation, I left my house a little early to check how the banquet preparations were going. My daughter didn't want our dogs to interfere with her getting dressed so she herded them into my home office and shut the door.
The dogs enjoy being involved with the family and being put away didn't please them. The puppy satisfied his boredom by finding something to chew on.
After we returned home, I entered the office I noted that there were bits of paper strewn about. I asked my daughter what happened. She told me that she had put the dogs in the office and when she let them out, she noted that the puppy had chewed on a couple of things, one being an envelope that had something from the state of California written on it.
You guessed it, my broker's license was in that envelope and it was pretty much done for.
Now it's $10 to get a duplicate copy. Should I make the puppy pay?
I am told that there was a time that DRE regulations required that Brokers actually display all of the licenses of those who were associated with them in a prominent location. If that rule were still in effect my puppy would have never seen my license. |
