GIS; Spatially captures existing assets, overlay proposed development, overlay DOW or HHS areas of concern...
Capture, Store, Analyze!
GIS or Geographic Information Systems is the method of managing data spatially, overlaying it on a digital map of the earth, and linking images or metadata to each point. Any information can be captured, stored and analyzed in relation to other geographic entities.
For instance, here at PFS, we are building our own GIS database with the help of our new GIS Analysts Matt Shetzer. (Please read more about Matt below). Matt has sorted through all of the years of data that we have gathered as surveyors and researchers and is importing the data into our GIS database. Each piece of information has been analyzed and given a category. Our categories are anything from existing wells, proposed wells, tanks, separators, pipelines, roads, monuments, areas of biological concern and even eagle's nests. We will be able to look spatially at existing facilities, and overlay proposed facilities; all in relation to wildlife or biological areas of concern.
We can import "layers" of information from the Division of Health and Human Service and even place bodies of water. From a regulatory / permitting standpoint we will be well positioned to quickly give our clients the geographical information they need to make decisions on proposed drilling operations according to any state requirements.
Information relative to existing and proposed operations can be identified and analyzed relationally, all with a click of a button. So far our database has an amazing amount of data uploaded with more to come. If you would like to set up an appointment to discuss and learn more about the power of GIS please contact erica@petro-fs.com. PFS can help your company develop and leverage GIS technology; call or e mail us today.

Story of our Head Hunters

Petroleum Field Services, llc (PFS) is a locally owned and operated company with offices in Denver and Rifle, CO. We provide the following spectrum of full services exclusively to the Petroleum Industry throughout the Rockies;
· Professional Land Surveying
· Regulatory Compliance Solutions
· Recruiting; Contract and Permanent placement, Specialized Headhunting
Previously operating as separate entities with shared ownership, our 6 year old Recruiting Company recently merged with our Field Services Company in December of 2007. This combined operation allows us to "cross-market" and be heavily networked in your industry. Often our field services company is working closely with Engineers, Geoscientists, and Land professionals who trust and confide in us when they know someone who might be open to new challenges and career opportunities. PFS does more than just recruit for this space, we are in the Oil and Gas business! We currently employ over 30 people throughout the Rockies in various disciplines.
HEADHUNTING EXPERTISE;
Our recruiting division has several decades of combined experience building networks and screening talent to find the absolute best passive candidates for our valued client companies. We take our careers very seriously and spend all of our time representing a select group of clients. The fact that we chose to work with a shorter list of client companies means that we have a larger field of candidates and it allows our candidates to work with only the top companies in the industry.
OUR APPROACH;
We do it better! Only focusing on a specific industry already gives a Placement Firm an advantage over other companies, but we take it one step further. Our Executive Recruiters only work in one discipline within our industry. That means each of our Professional Recruiters are VERY tightly niched in what they do. They have a network of every qualified candidates within the position specific niche that they work. We know who the players are, who is willing to move for the right opportunity and how to get in touch with them. Our network contains thousands of qualified, experienced professionals in the following disciplines;
· Engineering
· Geology / Geophysicists
· Land
· Division Order / Lease Analysts
These are only permanent positions we place.
We also have available Temporary or Contract employees |
Surveying In America History of Land Surveying In America

The Land Ordinance of 1785 was adopted by the US government on May 20, 1785. After the Revolutionary War the United States acquired the foreign land west of the 13 colonies. The newly formed government agreed that they should grant part of the land to soldiers that fought for the US and sell part of the land to give the growing country revenue.
In order to do either one of these processes, they needed to know more about the land and how much they actually had. This inspired the Land Ordinance and sent men out to survey the new frontier using chains and rather primative forms of measuring. These men needed a system to follow so that all land would be divided evenly. This established the need for the Public Land Survey System. The PLSS was in charge of separating the land into townships and within those townships separate further into sections. A number of these sections were designated for specific categories of land use. Section 16 was designated for schools, and sections 8, 11, 26, and 29 were designated for Revolutionary War Veterans.
Land surveying has been around since our countries founding, and still the profession lives on.
For your land surveying needs please call us at 303-928-7128.
