Greetings!
The end of May - seems like only yesterday it was the 1st of the month. I feel no further ahead than I was at the beginning of the month. As I publish this newsletter, I'm 10 days behind my self imposed deadline for getting the newsletter out. I'm going to try to do better next month because I don't like this feeling. I complain about being busy but when I stop and evaluate what we did accomplish I can honestly say it has been a good month. The number of orders remain consistent, we are producing and shipping within our established timelines, and most exciting is that we are closer to introducing some new product that we have been talking about for a while. We are actually building prototypes we hope to introduce at the next cat show we participate in as a vendor. Our goal is to get customer reaction to what we think will be hot products, and to validate design, colors, and features we feel will make this product stand out in the cat furniture industry. Once we get through this process we will add the product to the website for everyone to see. So stay tuned - we're excited, and we are sure you will be too. In this issue of the newsletter we are featuring the medium " Black Eyed Susan" which is an ideal tree to snug up against a wall or sit in front of a window. The design of this tree has only one set of opposing leaves so it's perfect for an area where someone does not have a lot of room to get around the tree. We have also included some links to a few current articles about litter, litter boxes, litter training, and, if you are feeling real energetic, there is one on toilet training your cat so you can get rid of the litter altogether. For those of you who have not heard of the children's book "Joseph and Chico: A cat tells the life of Pope Benedict XVI", we have included a short intro and a means to secure a copy for a possible gift or a cherished keepsake. And finally, Cody has to add his two cents worth. Who knows, someday we just might find something in that space worth remembering. As always, we are open to suggestions and encourage you to email us with any ideas or comments about our products or the content of this newsletter. Enjoy! The Medium Black-Eyed-Susan Colorful and Unique
The medium Black-Eyed-Susan is a smaller version of the larger unit of the same name. The features built into the medium tree are the same as those found in its larger brother. The tree stands 3 feet tall and is approximately 50 inches wide from leaf tip to leaf tip. The large sculptured leaves are 10 inches wide by 20 inches long and are lined with our thermal liner that retains your cats' body heat for hours of comfortable relaxing or napping. The trunk of the tree is wrapped in commercial grade carpet that your cat will love to dig its claws into when scratching or stretching, and because it is of such high quality, it will give you years of trouble free wear. The design, with only two opposing leaves, allows you to snug it closer to a wall or place it in front of a window. The extra wide base provides stability and prevents tipping under normal use. If you order for your cat today, you can have it delivered before the 4th of July holiday. see: The Medium Black-Eyed-Susan |
Cat Litter Boxes Is one better than another?
Over the years there seems to have been as many articles written on cat litter, litter boxes and problems getting cats to use them, as there has been articles written on cat health. If you think about the numbers for just a moment, you might get an idea as to why this subject is so important. 1) There are 90 million cats in the U.S. 2) 40% of U.S. households own a cat, and the average is 2.3 cats per household. 3) The annual cat litter market is estimated to be a $1.5 billion dollar market. And 4) The majority of cat owners say the most irritating aspect of owning a cat is a dirty, smelly litter box. With these things in mind I found a number of articles regarding cats and cat litter boxes that I thought could be entertaining or educational. If you see something that peaks your interest, just click on the link and the article will open: - Litter Training- Cat Litter Boxes- Choosing the Best Cat Litter- Cat Litter Box Problems- Hide Your Cat Litter BoxAnd finally: - Steps for Toilet Training Your Cat |

Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, is known for his fondness of animals, especially cats. Before he was assigned to the Vatican full time in 1982, his house in Germany was filled with cats and there is even a cat statue which guards the garden on the property back in Pentling, Germany.
Chico, a real live ginger tabby, lived across the road from Cardinal Ratzinger's house in Germany. Chico is the first, and so far only cat, to have ever written an authorized biography of a Pope; done with the help of an Italian journalist, Jeanne Perego. In this beautifully illustrated book for children, Chico describes the life of his "best friend" Pope Benedict from his birth in 1927 through his early developmental years, his ordination as priest, appointment as bishop, cardinal and finally his election as Pope in April 2005.
"Joseph and Chico ..." is a wonderful gift for all ages and a fun light hearted read. Order your copy today.

Cody's Corner What makes our trees better than the rest!
A recent poll conducted by the Cat Channel asked visitors "What type of surface does your cat prefer to scratch?" The results revealed that 33% of cats prefer carpet, 19% sisal, 19% expensive furniture, 14% cardboard, and the remaining 15% was lumped together under the heading of 'other'. We realized when we first started building cat trees that a high grade commercial carpet would wear better and outlast sisal. We try to build to a higher standard and to provide a quality product that not only looks good, but will last for years. It costs more to build them the way we do, but we think the added value is worth it and in the end preferred more by our customer. If you want to see our entire product line, which is preferred more by cats than any other cat furniture, click on the link below. Cody's final thought: "When using the litter box, be sure to kick as much litter out of the box as possible. Humans love the feel of kitty litter between their toes"
