First Impression
This month is dedicated to "Good Enough" thanks to my two new friends! I met two lovely ladies while I was presenting at American Association of Dental Office Manager's Annual Conference in Scottsdale this September. Meet Chris and Sandy from Dr Steven Stec's office in Grand Island, Nebraska! I happened to walk by them in the hotel lobby while they were getting ready to leave for home. They were exuberant over all the new information they learned at the AADOM Conference! We chatted for maybe 15 minutes and they could not stop talking about all the amazing things they were going to take back and implement in their practice! Both of these wonderful women have years of dental experience and yet couldn't wait to push themselves to grow even more. They refused to just be Good Enough!

Inspiration
Do you ever wonder why good enough is good enough for some and for others perfection is not even good enough! I think there is a happy place between the two sides of good enough and perfection. If we lean to far one way or the other we can hold ourselves back. If we only do things good enough to get by we don't challenge ourselves to grow and be the most awesome we can be. Our end results are mediocre and not impressive. On the other hand if we can't move forward because of perfection paralysis which is worse? The key is pushing ourselves beyond good enough and yet not paralyzing ourselves by trying to attain perfection.
The dictionary describes good enough as passable, tolerable, unexceptional and perfection as supremacy, exactness and faultlessness. Uggh...I don't know about you but neither one sounds good to me! What if we change our thinking from being Good Enough to being Awesome Enough and leave Perfection totally out of the picture! Think of Awesome Enough as inspiring, excellent and first-rate. Now that sounds good to me.
So how do we know if we are Awesome Enough! Ask yourself these questions.
- Am I happy with how I live my life, who I am and what I do?
- Do I inspire others?
- Am I excellent at what I do?
- Do I offer the highest quality of care, service or skills?
- Do I impact others in a positive manner?
If you can't answer yes to each of these questions you may have some room to become even more awesome and...
