First Impressions
Did you know that being happy can motivate success in all aspects of your life? The good news is we can all become happier just by deciding you can. Dr. Judy Orloff, author of Positive Energy doesn't believe in faking happiness. Instead she endorses "acting as if". Faking is merely going through the motions of just "getting it over with". "Acting as if", on the other hand, requires actually getting into the act and telling yourself "I am happy". It's the trying and practicing that leads you to the feelings of happiness. Focus on how it feels to feel good. Whatever you focus on will become more apparent and will grow. For centuries, optimists and pessimists have argued over who's right, and the answer is they both are; each sees what they're looking for. If you focus on happiness, that's what you become more aware of! |

The clothing you wear will influence and transform your attitude and disposition. It is important when you are shopping for clothing to always ask yourself: "Does it look good on me? Do I love it?" and "Is it the image I want to portray?" On days you are feeling doubtful or having low self-esteem don your favorite outfit. You will be amazed at the lift it will give you! Your change in attitude will reflect out to the world and the world will smile back! |

Have you ever started your day in a mood; oh, let's just say... less than ecstatic? It seems as if everything you do and every encounter you have is difficult. Now think of the days you start out happy. The world seems like such a warm and wonderful place to be. People are smiling and you're happy to be alive! Was there a change of cosmic proportions to affect the world overnight? Hmm. It is much more likely that it was your perception of that day based on your mood and your attitude. If you believe this to be true then it would mean that you could make every day great. Talk about the power of attitude!
How do we avoid starting out our day in a bad mood? My friend, Jayne Kubitza suggests you "Just change your dial until you find a happy station". Here is one way to change your dial. Start out everyday by thinking of five things you are grateful for. This will create an attitude of gratitude and put things back into perspective.
We are used to thinking that once we finally get the perfect partner or lose weight or get our dream job... then we will be happy. How many times have you wanted something badly only to feel let down once it was achieved? Happiness isn't an it or a thing. Research has proven that there is no one set of circumstances that make someone happy; it is more about having a healthy mental attitude toward whatever you're experiencing.
A favorite quote by John Alston is, "It is not what happens to you that's important; it's how you respond to what happens". So go out there and face the world with a big smile on your face and see just how great life can be! |
