Dear Friends of Mad Science,
We are so excited about our upcoming summer camps! Please check our "Camp Updates" section on the right - we've got lots of news regarding summer camps.
Don't forget that this week is Teacher Appreciation Week! We at Mad Science know that teachers play a key role in the development of today's kids. We value their contributions, and we also love working with the teachers who spend their summers with us, introducing kids to the wonders of science in our summer camps.

Join one of our most popular camps this summer - Robot World! Each day some time will be spent perfecting a real working robot that we will finish and take home on Friday.
Invent your own robot designs using recycled materials.
Discover the world of robots as we investigate the differences between humans and their robotic ounterparts. What makes a robot work will be explored during hands-on activities and discussions.
We will play games and experiment with super cool robots such as a soccer robot, a line tracker, a hyper puppy, and a robotic arm.
And much more....

Hiroshi Ishiguro

Hiroshi Ishiguro is director of the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory at Osaka University in Japan. He created a robot called "Geminoid" who looks just like him and can even make facial expressions. Ishiguro feels that the human appearance of robots is important. He thinks it will be possible to build a robot that looks so human you won't be able to tell it's a robot.
Watch a video of the Geminoid here. |

Static Electricity Rolls the Can
An empty soda can A blown-up balloon A head of hair
1.Place the can on its side on a table or a smooth floor.
2.Rub the balloon back and forth through your hair really fast.
3.Hold the balloon close to the can without actually touching the can. The can will start to roll towards the balloon without you even touching it!
