"Uncommon Way to Achieve an Uncommon Goal"

Earlier this month me and several members of the leadership team at ATOP had a chance to attend "A Lunch with Tony Dungy" sponsored by the Greater Memphis Chamber. Tony Dungy is the former coach of the NFL Super Bowl XLI champions, the Indianapolis Colts, and the first African American coach to win a Super Bowl. Dungy talked during that luncheon about his struggles in life and the calling  from God to be a difference-maker, and he went on to share how important it is to be a part of the solution and not add to the problems of the world. He also talked about how his coaching experiences really mirror life's experience and how if we are going to be difference-makers then we must have Expectation, Execution, No Excuses and No Explanations. As believers, God has called us to an "uncommon way to achieve an uncommon goal" and we are challenged daily to let our lights so shine that others might see God in us. Dungy, in his most recent book "Uncommon," quoted one of his college coaches by saying "Success is uncommon, therefore not to be enjoyed by the common man. I'm looking for uncommon people."

As you move throughout this week, reflect on what really matters to God.  Ask yourself are you doing all you can to make a difference in this world, or can you do and be more like God created you to be?  Are you a difference-maker on your job, in your church, and in your family? If not, then start today seeking the uncommon way.

Be blessed,
