United Way of Rhode Island supports programs and initiatives that are making an impact on people's lives-today and for the long term. Stepping Up is an innovative partnership between United Nurses & Allied Professionals/
Rhode Island Hospital Health Care Education Trust and Women and Infants' Hospital, among many others. Based on nationally recognized best practices, it is a career ladders program that actively engages employers and employees by providing a wide range of services such as education and career coaching at local hospitals and other healthcare facilities. As a result, Stepping Up is producing dramatically improved outcomes. Mijanielle, a mother of three and immigrant from Haiti, did her Stepping Up internship at Rhode Island Hospital. She went on to obtain her C.N.A. license and secured a job as a C.N.A. She is also taking classes with Stepping Up every semester toward her RN degree at Community College of Rhode Island. In her spare time, she tutors other Stepping Up participants to help them pass their C.N.A. tests. In spite of her busy schedule, she manages to get A's and B's in all of her courses!
Thanks to your support, Mijanielle, and hundreds of others, are on the path towards a brighter future! By leveraging the power of partnerships, people are given the chance to change the course of their lives and secure a financially stable future for themselves and their families. Together, we are helping to ensure that every Rhode Islander has the building blocks of a good life: EDUCATION, INCOME & HOUSING. |
