NACCHO is accepting model practice applications through this Friday, November 11. Is your LHD doing something innovative to address the causes of injury and violence? If so, consider submitting an application to NACCHO's Model Practice program. This program has honored innovative LHD programs since 2003. If you have any questions concerning the Model Practice program, please e-mail the NACCHO membership team. For more information, visit NACCHO's website.
Teen Dating Violence: A Literature Review and Annotated Bibliography

This report, from the Department of Justice, provides a review of available resources and studies on dating violence among high school and middle school youth. The effectiveness of identified prevention programs is also explored. Analyzing both quantitative and qualitative literature, the report highlights important risk factors and predictors of teen dating violence and abuse. Local health departments play a key role in eliminating major risk factors at the community level, promoting protective factors, and advocating for an immediate and appropriate response through the legal system.

RFP: Underage Drinking Prevention

As part of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's ongoing efforts to prevent and reduce underage drinking, the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention is soliciting proposals from community-based organizations to participate in a Pilot Site Program. The goal of the campaign is to involve parents in preventing underage drinking by their 9-15 year old children. The letter of intent to apply for this opportunity is due November 30.

This webinar, from the Prevention Institute, will build skills for engaging community partners and initiating efforts to prevent bullying. "Making the Case: Prevent Bulling in the First Place" will be held tomorrow, November 10, from 2-3:30 PM EST.
