Local Health Departments in Action: Impaired Driving Prevention in Rural Communities
Demonstration Sites
NACCHO and NHTSA have awarded funding to four demonstration sites that are working towards reducing fatalities and injuries associated with impaired driving in their rural communities. The four counties are: Carroll County, MD; Fargo-Cass, ND; Garrett County, MD; and Fillmore-Houston Counties, MN. For more information about the demonstration sites visit
 
Publication
Impaired Driving Prevention in Rural Communities is a compendium of programs undertaken by local health departments (LHDs) in rural jurisdictions to combat the problem of impaired driving. This compendium profiles select rural LHDs, their approaches to addressing impaired driving, successes they have achieved, and the obstacles they have encountered during program implementation.

Resulting from national solicitations, the project's Sourcebook incorporates a wide range of strategies designed to assist campuses in their efforts to prevent or reduce alcohol-related problems.
