Demonstration Sites NACCHO and NHTSA have awarded funding to four demonstration sites that are working towards reducing fatalities and injuries associated with impaired driving in their rural communities. Impaired Driving Prevention in Rural Communities is a compendium of programs undertaken by local health departments (LHDs) in rural jurisdictions to combat the problem of impaired driving. This compendium profiles select rural LHDs, their approaches to addressing impaired driving, successes they have achieved, and the obstacles they have encountered during program implementation. NHTSA's Holiday 2007 Media Planner
 The intent of this Holiday promotional planner is to provide earned media tools and marketing material templates that can be tailored and distributed to fit local community needs. This planner includes both Enforcement (Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest.) and Social Norming (Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk and Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving) messaging and templates.
This report offers recommendations for government and school officials, parents, youth, and others concerned about the problem.
