Two Generations in Poverty Webinar

As the merits of alternative measures of poverty are debated, a new Child Trends report--to be released November 29--calls attention to the pervasive effects of poverty on parents and their children. In Two Generations in Poverty: Status and Trends among Parents and Children in the United States, Child Trends reports on the disproportionate impact of poverty on parents and children, particularly those in single-mother families. The brief was commissioned by Ascend, the Family Economic Security Program at the Aspen Institute.

Join us for a webinar on these findings.

About Child Trends

Child Trends is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research center that studies children at all stages of development, across all major domains, and in the important contexts of their lives. Our mission is to improve outcomes for children by providing research, data, and analysis to the people and institutions whose decisions and actions affect children.

About Ascend, the Family Economic Security Program at the Aspen Institute

Ascend is a hub for breakthrough ideas and proven strategies that move parents, especially women, and their children beyond poverty toward educational success and economic security. The program focuses on three key areas--education, economics, and social capital--to fundamentally change the conversation around low-income families; engage across diverse sectors to develop a network of leaders and political will; and convene forums and create platforms to elevate effective two-generation policies and community solutions. Ascend takes a "two-generation" approach in its strategy, focusing on both parents and their children.

The Aspen Institute mission is twofold: to foster values-based leadership, encouraging individuals to reflect on the ideals and ideas that define a good society, and to provide a neutral and balanced venue for discussing and acting on critical issues.
