THE SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE SPOTLIGHTS JUDY CRAWFORD

"Season of Sharing: Former Drug Addict Now Helps Others Kick Habit"

The Chronicle featured the story of our very own, Judy Crawford, who first came to HPP as a client, was later hired as a community health worker and now is a family case manager.
"Every Tuesday night for two years - Photo of Judy Crawford
without fail - Judy Crawford attended a support group for recovering addicts. And each time, she had a special message for the nonprofit where the meetings were held:

"Someday, I'm going to have an office here."

At the time, it might have seemed an ambitious stretch. Crawford had a long history of alcohol and drug
abuse. She had even once lost custody
of her young son because of her drug habit.
But she was determined to permanently kick her addictions.

And seven years ago, just as she predicted, she landed both a job and an office. She was hired as a staff member by the nonprofit - the Homeless Prenatal Program . . ."

TURTLES RAISE MONEY FOR HPP
 photo of runners
San Francisco General Hospital nurses, midwives, friends and family members teamed up to run (or walk) the St. Jude Half Marathon last month. With the slogan, "Run with the turtles," the group raised $7,000 for HPP. HPP's Martha Ryan and Karen Hones also participated. The team is already planning for next year's event.
