The Whaling Museum Goes GREEN
| |
The NHA Whaling Museum, the Hadwen & Barney Oil & Candle Factory, the NHA administrative offices, and the Museum Shop have been fitted with LED light bulbs in an effort to conserve energy while maintaining light quality for exhibitions and programs.
LED technology has been in existence for some time, but only recently has it reached the levels that museums require for display and exhibit purposes. An added advantage of LED bulbsis that they emit little infra-red and no ultra-violet light, which is critical for sensitive items on display. The NHA is working with National Grid, who offer an Energy Savings Program for small businesses.
