 Sherri Hope Culver NAMLE President
Friends,
Does it sometimes feel as if you're the only one promoting media literacy education in your school or organization? Well, you're actually part of a growing field and one indication of this is the recent premiere of the International Media Literacy Research Forum. NAMLE is one of the founding members of this international group. Visit the site to learn what's happening in media literacy in other countries. The site just kicked off last month so content and resources are still being added, but I thought you'd want to know about it. For those of you who attended our 2007 national conference in St. Louis, the concept began when Robin Blake, director of the media literacy program at Ofcom in the UK, experienced our energy and passion for media literacy during his keynote address. An international media literacy meeting followed, with the website as its first outcome. NAMLE will be sending out an email shortly with a call for people interested in serving on the board. This is a great experience and way to network with colleagues. Board members are available to provide more information and the email will have all the details.Sherri Hope Culver
