Where will you be fifty years today? If you arrive there, will you know it? While I was ministering in Trinidad, I spoke on "The Next Fifty Years!" We have a glorious heritage and a fantastic present, but we must think about the future if we are to be our best for the present. It was one thing for Christopher Columbus to launch out his ships in Palos, Spain, but something completely different to land in Trinidad. Here are six steps from John 6 of Jesus walking on the water that will encourage us to sail successfully each season of our lives.
- We are governed by God's Providence. When we get on God's path we get HIS Providence. He sees ahead of time and orders our steps and brings the right people across our path when we need them.
- We are growing by God's Plan. As we travel to our destination, we grow through new experiences along the way.
- We are Graced By God's Prayers. Just as the Lord was praying for His disciples when they were in the storm, our Lord is praying for us today. Even though we cannot see Him, He can always see us.
- We are Gladdened By God's Presence. As we travel through this life, we need to keep a list of the provisions that the Lord has provided to us. These testimonies will renew our mind and revive our hearts.
- We are Guarded By God's Person. Jesus announced to his disciples, "Be not afraid! It is I." The "I Am" has come to save us in the greatest challenges of our lives.
- We are Guided By God's Purpose. God's purpose is to get us from one side to the other side. We are traveling this world, having come from one side and headed to the other side.
Jesus did not always promise us smooth sailing, but He did say we would have a safe landing. We are going to make it! The Great Commission will be completed! Jesus is coming again! Blessings.
