The 2008 Beach Tennis USA National Tour makes
its triumphant return to Long Beach, NY for
the much anticipated 2008
National Championship.
After stopping in cities all over the country
including Miami, FL, San Diego, CA, Hermosa
Beach, CA, and Charleston, SC, Beach Tennis
USA will hold its final event on Saturday and
Sunday, August 30 and 31.
The 2008 National Championship will be
taking place on the beach at Riverside Blvd,
near the Boardwalk in Long Beach, New York.
75 Men and Women's Pro division teams from 12
countries are expected to compete for $15,000
in cash prizes. Click

But, anyone can enter! If you think you
can compete with the world's best beach

Beach Tennis USA Appoints Jim Lorenzo As President
Beach Tennis USAŽ, is happy to announce
the appointment of James Lorenzo as President
of the company.
Lorenzo, partner of the New York-based event
and production company Imagine It Events and
Entertainment, has overseen production of
every major event for Beach Tennis USA since
the sport was launched in 2005. In the past,
Lorenzo worked closely with Marlboro Team
Penske and produced the unveiling of the
Marlboro Team Penske Race Car at the Biltmore
Hotel in Miami, Florida. He has also been the
President and Owner of DJ Productions since
that company's inception 21 years ago.
Mr. Lorenzo will be overseeing all day-to-day
operations for Beach Tennis USA, as well as
maintaining his role in producing all the
company's major events. Lorenzo replaces Fred
Finkelstein, who will assume his new role as
Chairman of the Advisory Board for the
National Beach Tennis Association (NBTA).

City of Long Beach Declares August "Beach Tennis Month"
Pro Sport Comes Home To Nassau County For National Championships, Aug 30-31
The City of Long Beach, New York and Beach
Tennis USA announced that this August will be
known as "Beach Tennis Month" throughout the
city. Long Beach plans to incorporate the
sport into a number of parks and recreations
programs.
The Long Beach Parks and Recreation
Department will include beach tennis
instructions as part of their regular
programs throughout the month. Earlier this
summer, the city of Long Beach constructed
several permanent beach tennis courts at
Grand Blvd. and Broadway for use by local
leagues. To learn more about these and other

Beach Tennis USA is also a sponsor of this
year's Long Beach Summer Concert Series,
which takes place every Wednesday, at 8:00
p.m., on New York Avenue beach and every
Thursday on Neptune Boulevard beach until
Labor Day. Long Beach will, for the fourth
straight season, host the 2008 National Beach
Tennis Championship.

Beach Tennis USA Heads to Ravenna, Italy for World Championships
Team Rhino and the Maloney Sisters Represent USA
Lisa and Laura Maloney, of San Diego, CA and
Brett Johnson and Mike Edison, of Clearwater,
FL were selected by Beach Tennis USA to
represent the United States in the World
Championship of Beach Tennis, held from July
29 to August 4 in Ravenna, Italy.
The two teams faced some of their toughest
competition ever. "We were very excited to
represent the United States at the World
Championships and very grateful to Beach
Tennis USA for the opportunity to compete on
an international level against players who
have been playing beach tennis all of their
lives," said Laura Maloney.

Beach Tennis Returns to Long Beach for the Tri-State Open
East Coast Players Prepare for 2008 National Championship
Long Beach, NY was the setting for some
incredible pro beach tennis action on
Saturday, August 9. The Tri-State Open
featured 16 Men's and Women's Pro division
teams battling it out in preparation for this
year's National Championship.
In the Men's Pro division, Whitney "The
Sandman" Kraft and Devin Wakeford defeated
Frank Lorenzetti and George Wilkinson 8-4.
For Kraft, it was his first tour victory
since winning the 2007 St. Patty's Day Smash
in Delray Beach, FL, with then-partner Andy Lake.
In the Women's Pro division, three-time
national champ Nadia Johnston, and interim
partner Nicole Melch, completely dismantled
Katrina Marino and Abbey Tayler, 8-0. It's
still unclear as to who Johnston will be
paired with at this year's National
Championship where she'll defend her title
for the fourth straight season.

Beach Tennis USA Sanctions Event In Japan
Beach Tennis Erina Open -- September 14 & 15
Beach Tennis USA has sanctioned the first
ever tournament held in Japan -- the Beach
Tennis Erina Open. The event, which is hosted
by Masa Sports System, Inc. will be taking
place September 14 & 15.
This groundbreaking event will feature
40 men's and women's pro teams.

Edison and Johnson Win Charleston Open
Team Rhino Upsets Hometown Favorites in Finals
The 2008 Beach Tennis USA National Tour made
a stop in Isle of Palms in Charleston, SC on
Saturday, August 16. The Men's finals match
of the Beach Tennis Charleston Open featured
a rematch of the SoCal Series Slam finals, as
hometown favorites Chris Henderson and Phil
Whitesell faced Brett Johnson and Mike Edison
of Clearwater, FL. The match went to a
tie-breaker round, where the boys from
Florida edged out their competition 7-3.
The teams have faced one another in
finals matches twice already this season,
with one win for each team. It will be
interesting to see if these teams can make it
to the finals yet again in the National
Championship to see who will take the rubber
match.
In the Women's pro division, relative
newcomers Kristin Whitehead and Gabriella
Oreira beat out Evelyn Bull and Molly Dargan
8-4.
