Are your love handles more than you can handle? Back fat attacking your bra strap? Has that little pooch turned into more of a pouch? We have just the solution for you!

Now you can attack these problem areas with the non-invasive CoolSculpting procedure. A team of scientists and physicians developed the CoolSculpting procedure to address these problems. CoolSculpting utilizes a precisely controlled cooling method called Cryolipolysis™ to target, cool, and eliminate fat cells without damage to other tissue.

After a one- to three-hour CoolSculpting procedure, the patient's body goes to work. Over the next two to four months, the crystallized fat cells break down and are naturally eliminated from the body.

Tips to Protect Winter Skin

Although we are entering March, the cold weather may still be having an affect on your skin.  Without proper care, your skin can be susceptible to the affects of seasonal changes. Keep your skin and lips feeling and looking great by following these simple suggestions.

  1. Stay on Top of Skincare. When seasons change, our skin is in the most need of a little extra TLC. Make sure to go to the spa and get your facial. Ask your aesthetician about season-specific treatments and for tips on products and regimens appropriate for the time of year.
  2. Use Sunscreen. It's not just for summer. UV rays can damage your skin year round, so use a product with at least an SPF of 30 to minimize the effects. Don't forget your hands, too, if they will be exposed. Apply the sunscreen at least thirty minutes before going outdoors.
  3. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! During winter months, you may require a heavier moisturizer. Use an oil-based moisturizer (rather than water-based) that provides a layer of protection; plus, it will be better at retaining moisture. Be sure, however, to get a non-clogging brand that contains quality ingredients to avoid irritation or breakouts.
  4. Stay Hydrated. Important all year, of course, but in the cold months you can become just as dehydrated as you can in warmer ones. It seems to be a myth that drinking water will make your skin look better, but you will certainly feel better if you stay hydrated.
  5. Avoid too many hot baths. Sure, it feels great on a cold day or evening, and a hot bath every once in awhile is all right, but don't make a daily habit of it, as super hot water degenerates lipid barriers. If you do overheat your water, be sure to use an all-over moisturizer when you get out. Consider also using oatmeal or baking soda additives to soothe dry skin.
  6. Use lip balm. Again, don't wait until things get bad. Take preventive measures to keep your lips soft and kissable by wearing lip balms (and reapplying frequently throughout the day). Lip balms don't have to be pricey to work. Simply look for ones that are petroleum based or ones that contain cocoa butter or lanolin.
  7. Be gentle to your face. When washing your face, use a mild foaming cleanser or a milk-based cleaner. Toners should be alcohol-free. If you like to use masks, avoid clay-based products and opt for ones advertised as "deep hydrating."

Use a humidifier. Humidifiers keep moister in the air, and this keeps your skin from drying out. Consider buying several small ones to place around your home to combat the effects of central heating.

6 Signs to Identify Depression or Stress

Many people use the word "depression and stress" to describe how they are feeling at a specific moment: sad, disappointed, worried, overwhelmed, frustrated, etc. Real depression or stress, however, is much more than just these "in the moment" feelings. It can be all consuming, taking over your day-to-day life. It can interrupt or impact your ability to work, sleep, eat, and enjoying life.

When looking for signs of depression/stress, feeling sad, teary, and feeling down may seem obvious. You may even see a loss or increase in appetite, or feelings of hopelessness and helplessness as signs.

1.    Abnormal Sleep Patterns: Many stressed people complain that they don't want to get out of bed...Or they can't sleep...They feel anxiety, pressure and more... If you find that you have trouble getting a solid seven to eight hours of sleep on a regular basis, this may be a sign of depression or a high level of stress.

2.    Apathy or Ambivalence: Once I asked a friend if they were happy. His response: "I'm not UNhappy." This kind of response may sound okay, but in reality, it demonstrates apathy or ambivalence. If you can't say you are happy, and yet, you can't say you are unhappy, you may be living in a state of "existing." If one is depressed or stressed, they may unknowingly turn off all of their emotions in order to shut out emotions such as unhappiness.

3.    Loss of Interest or Energy for Things You Enjoy: They also lose interest in or lack the energy for the things that they normally really enjoy.

4.    Loss of Focus or Concentration: Some people find that they can't concentrate on work or other tasks that used to be easy to them. They are distracted and lose their focus on even the most basic of tasks.

5.     Disinterest in Seeing Friends or Loved Ones: When someone is depressed, and stressed they may fall off the radar, hide out or avoid being social. Being around other individuals who are happy may be a reminder of how unhappy they are. Or, they may not have the energy to "put on a happy face" for others.

6.    Lack of Interest in Your Physical Wellbeing or Appearance: If you normally take pride in the way you look or in your health and wellbeing, yet recently have stopped caring, it may be a sign of depression or stress.

If you or anyone you know is experiencing any of the above make sure you visit a wellness center and seek professional guidance.

Often, people will turn to medication to treat depression. Medication, however, only treats the symptoms and doesn't actually fix the problem.  A wellness coach or psychological treatment helps individuals understand what is causing the depression or the stress and they can address those triggers and help lead a happier, medication-free life.
