Partners Mark World Sight Day With New Tools To Eliminate Blinding Trachoma

With World Sight Day set for Thursday we'd like to remind our partners of three new tools we can use in the fight to eliminate blinding trachoma by 2020. Our hope is that these tools are providing new and vital information and data needed to sustain implementation efforts and prompt political will for action.

  • A global strategic plan:2020 INSight, released by the International Coalition for Trachoma Control (ICTC), shows where we are, where we need to be, and what it will take to achieve elimination of blinding trachoma by 2020. Get your copy here.
Two new websites:The Trachoma Atlas and the ICTC website provide data from endemic countries and are supported by a broad coalition of partners working together to eliminate the leading cause of preventable blindness.
  • The Trachoma Atlas has prevalence data displayed on maps that can be downloaded for free.
  • The ICTC website has maps that show where the WHO-endorsed SAFE strategy - Surgery, Antibiotics, Facial cleanliness and Environmental improvements - is being implemented.

We have less than nine years to achieve our goal. Urgent action is necessary. Please help us spread the word.
