More Than 1 Million People Treated With Pfizer-donated Zithromax® in Nigeria
| Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, has an estimated 53 million people living in trachoma-endemic areas and more than 600,000 affected by the blinding stage of the disease. After receiving its first donation of Zithromax® for trachoma control in October 2010, Nigeria distributed 1,100,197 doses through a mass drug administration in ten districts in five states. Mapping the Magnitude of Blinding Trachoma
| There is a new online tool in the fight to eliminate blinding trachoma. The Trachoma Atlas, at http://www.trachomaatlas.org, has maps from 49 countries showing the distribution and prevalence of trachoma. Mapping the magnitude of blinding trachoma is critical to defining priority areas for implementation of control efforts.

| More than 225 Million Zithromax® Doses Donated
A recent milestone in the campaign to eliminate blinding trachoma was reached: Pfizer has donated more than 225 million doses of the antibiotic Zithromax®. It occurred in November 2010 during Ethiopia's MalTra week, when people are treated for both malaria and trachoma. To date, 19 national countries have received Zithromax® to treat and prevent blinding trachoma.
Making a Difference in Uganda
ITI has a new video, shot last October in Uganda. "Together We Can Eliminate Blinding Trachoma" is a primer on the work of ITI, Pfizer, and partners. The video shows a Mass Drug Administration at a rural school. The teachers, children and community leaders were so excited to have visitors. They treated Pfizer and ITI guests to songs and dances about trachoma.
Changes and a Chance to Join the ITI Team in Atlanta
Lisa Rotondo has been promoted from Associate Director to the position of Deputy Director at ITI. She will now be responsible for overseeing the development of short- and long-term strategic direction for ITI, managing ITI's technical and financial operations and communications initiatives, and serving as the main liaison to all collaborating partners. ITI's Supply Chain Manager, Vivian Singletary is transitioning to the position of Senior Public Health Informatics Analyst with the Public Health Informatics Institute at the Task Force for Global Health. ITI recognizes the important role Vivian played in establishing the supply chain management of Zithromax® at ITI and wishes her well in her new position.
