Progress and Challenges in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia
In September 2009, Catherine Cross, an independent consultant for blindness prevention programs and a new member of ITI's Technical Expert Committee, traveled to Ethiopia. New Technical Expert Committee Formed
ITI is proud to announce that a new Trachoma Expert Committee (TEC) has been formed to provide the organization with invaluable advice and counsel on strategic, technical and operational issues. The TEC functions as an independent body of seven internationally recognized experts in the fields of public health, ophthalmology, blindness prevention, and all aspects of the SAFE Strategy for trachoma control and elimination. A New Logo for ITI
The International Trachoma Initiative has a new and expressive logo. The basic image on the left was designed to represent light, using the icon of the sun and its rays. In effect, it also represents the pupil of the eye. The embracing swoosh's create, together with the circle, the complete eye. They also represent an image of protection and care. These are universal elements that reflect the mission and vision of ITI and our approach to treating and preventing blinding trachoma. Read More

Women's Increased Vulnerability to Blinding Trachoma Highlighted for World Sight Day -- October 8
Dr. Danny Haddad, Director of the International Trachoma Initiative (ITI) issued a statement on World Sight Day 2009 highlighting women's increased vulnerability to blinding trachoma.
Dr. Haddad cited an important resource to address this gender disparity in prevention and services: Women and Trachoma, Achieving Gender Equity in the Implementation of SAFE.
