2008, as the International Trachoma Initiative finalized plans to merge into the Task Force for Global Health, leaders of both organizations created a strategic program review process to chart the future direction for a "new ITI." ...full article

A new leadership team is now in place at the International Trachoma Initiative.  The five-member team brings extensive experience in trachoma and NTD control as well as management skills to build effective collaborations with partners and to strengthen the supply chain for delivering Pfizer-donated Zithromax in trachoma endemic countries.

Ethiopia_MalTra
Ethiopia MalTra Week


In April 2009, ITI, the Carter Center, and the Lions Clubs of Ethiopia supported the Amhara National Regional State in the distribution of almost 4.5 million doses of Zithromax as part of an integrated week focusing on malaria and trachoma (known as MalTra week).  MalTra week aims to distribute Zithromax and provide health education to more than 5 million people at-risk of blinding trachoma in Ethiopia.
