A Night of Radiance at the Digital Ball 2010 Digital Ball 2010 presented by SunGard was a night of radiance and inspiration as the Charlotte Region Technology Community came together to support NPower and the nonprofit clients we serve. Technology leaders from 80 companies helped raise $460K in cash and contributions translating to over 4000 hours of direct client service to local nonprofits.
Digital Ball Host Committee chair, A. R. Mullinax, highlighted the ways that the technology community can leverage NPower to truly effect change in our community. He encouraged attendees to learn more about ways to invest their talents with NPower while enjoying each other's company throughout the evening.
A highlight of the evening was when Jeffrey Wallis, a Managing Partner of SunGard Consulting Services, inducted the inaugural class for the NPower Hall of Fame. The NPower Hall of Fame recognizes leaders that helped create and shape NPower over the past six years. Read about the winners.
In addition, York County Adult Day Care Services received the Technology Innovation Award presented by Accenture. Read more about their innovative project below.

The Art of Technology Planning -NPower's Partnership with the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art
When the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art began thinking about their technology needs, NPower truly had a blank canvas on which to paint a picture of the ideal technology plan. The museum's building was just under construction, employees needed to be hired, art was yet to be hung and installed, and Charlotte's art lovers had only a small inkling of how dynamic and influential the Bechtler art collection would be. Very rarely do NPower consultants have the opportunity to work with a new institution from the ground up when creating and implementing a technolgy plan. NPower had this exciting opportunity with Bechtler, which posed unique challenges and advantages during the technology planning process.
Through technology planning, NPower assessed what types of technology Bechtler needed prior to their January 2, 2010 museum opening and beyond. Ultimately, NPower's plan enabled Bechtler to operate efficiently and effectively as one of the premier modern art museums in the southeast showcasing important and influential artists of the mid 20th century.

York County Adult Day Care Services wins NPower's Technology Innovation Award
Every day, more than 100 families in the Greater Charlotte region rely on York County Adult Day Care Services (YCADCS) to provide care for an adult family member with a physical or mental incapacity such as Alzheimer's disease. Staff members at YCADCS spend more than three hours of each day meticulously tracking every detail of client care, from arrival time to medication provision, even an extra glass of milk at lunch- all by hand, on paper. Why all the tracking? Like many nonprofits, YCADCS funding comes from a variety of sources, including government agencies that require extensive documenttion of care outcomes. If these records are not accurate it could mean a significant loss of revenue which is vital to a nonprofit's operations, especially in the current economic times.
