Greetings! This newsletter is now going monthly instead of twice monthly. We hope you appreciate getting less e-mails. We will occasionally send e-blasts about special events. Also there is a new feature: "Nia Move of the Month". We hope you enjoy the new format. Dancing on Danielle

Nia Move of the Month: Sink & Pivot Table Wipe
This summer, as we consciously condition our bodies, minds, emotions, and spirit, Principle 7: The Three Planes and Three Levels of Intensity remind us that every movement in Nia- can be done within three planes- low, middle, and high- and can be done with three different levels of intensity. Mixing the three levels and three planes creates a wide repertoire of movement choices. Transfer body weight along a Smile Line, moving from low to middle to high. Use three levels of intensity to vary your rate of exertion.
Benefits: This move keeps the feet, ankles, knees and hip joints agile and the upper body mobile.
Standing in "A" stance, make a quarter turn to the right, bending at the knees and sinking slightly, and picking up your left foot and pivoting your left thigh as you place the ball of your left foot on the ground. At the same time, use your left hand to wipe off an imaginary table, moving your hand from behind you to the front. Alternate sides. Sound the word "WHOOSH" to integrate upper and lower body.
